So this is not an interface to connect external hard drives - unless you have LOTS of time
UTILIZATION
No problem in eight years of use, immediate recognition by all devices used to date (the most recent being a late 2011 MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.5.) I can not speak for Windows, but I think the camera is such a simple design that would work on either equally or, at worst, a corresponding driver can be found on the web ... check.
OVERALL OPINION
The simplicity of this case is exemplary. Her life is just as much!
As my connection needs have not increased since purchase, I always use; with USB 2 everywhere and USB 3 becomes the new standard, 3 USB ports riqsuent still not be the page in terms of speed.
That would be my only reason not to buy the same!
