I use my Tascam MD 350 for four months. It's a treat. Rackable, solid, well thought out ergonomics is an excellent tool for my home studio. The price is reasonable when you consider that this device is built to last. Before him, I tasted the Denon and Sony: Sony is "in public", Denon very "audiophile". Tascam directed more to an audience of technicians.

The pros: The connector (XLR io, io RCT, in which an optical 2 front, 1 optical out, headphone jack and a jack for connecting a computer keyboard). The sound is excellent and warm. The mounting options are standard (there is an undo and more), the level of analog and digital inputs is adjustable, remote control is provided, there is also a pitch control to + or - 12%. The controls are well laid out in front, rubber, the screen is very readable. I honestly do not know what to ask for more.

The set is very serious. I put 9 instead of 10 because the mounting options "fines" are a bit better designed in my Denon.

Change January 2011: the years passed, I became a bit more demanding in the definition of what I record and I note that the bandwidth of the MD is worse than expected. Double-blind, I can distinguish the original recording. Slight loss of treble, bass less round than expected. I think I'll learn better.
