Published on 11/16/13 at 08:49Made in Indonesia ... the new Eldorado for making guitars at low cost?
For the rest of the features, for what I know, it sticks closely to the original model, vintage and rare for Fender ... or a hybrid instrument: bass and / or guitar or more precisely, a "shortscale" low paid as such, but with two extra strings in the treble.
3 pickups like "Jaguar" each controlled by a switch "on / off", a volume and overall tone.
A fourth switch activates a high-pass filter that cuts the lower frequencies.
UTILIZATION
Handle very nice touches flatter than the original model ...
It's just quite confusing at first, to play bass on a close to a guitar neck (which is so far not seen the pitch and pulling the strings ...) configuration, confusing, but also very inspiring!
For the rest, the guitar is stable, does not sting the nose is reasonably heavy ... no complaints!
The moderate use of open pick unprecedented opportunity ... and while it remains moderate, no worry of désacordage obvious.
Game almost obligatory pick ... even if "finger", it's still playable.
SOUNDS
Tested at low volume on a small bass amp, it sounds very good ... Fairly clear but not at all devoid of bass sounds, a beautiful sustain ... Really extremely and pleasantly surprising for an instrument in this price range.
My favorite position is neck pickup + pickup, tone slightly "closed" ... It is dynamic and musical sounds good vintage ... I am less "fan" of the micro environment ... at least I have not yet found its usefulness.
OVERALL OPINION
Notice hot after spending "a few hours" above ... primarily to adjust!
The first notes were a little scares me out of the box: low E string hard to give as much too soft, round not just in the very acute, generalized frieze ...
After reassembling the bridge a few millimeters, set the curvature of the handle (slightly), set the harmonics, the height of microphones and changed the low E string decidedly too soft (passing on a draft of 95 instead of 84 origin), we begin to see the possibilities of the beast!
This is necessarily the obvious consideration of low cost: savings were not made on the finishes (excellent!), Electronics (more than adequate), or a priori wood (maple neck nicely grained rosewood the very dense and homogeneous button) and the overall aesthetics (flawless chrome, nickel binding handle, perfect polish!) but the overall setting (a bit tricky for the old design).
Overall, after a good close control and this damn rope mid change, a very beautiful and unusual case and low and inspiring!
Beware, however, the strings ... difficult to find because it is necessary and a suitable pulling length shortscale but not too much as the anchor rope is far enough from the bridge and on the other side of the handle, the mechanics are more mechanical guitar as mechanical Low ... A good puzzle so!
