Value For Money :
Excellent
Jelco is a Japanese brand that has signed its pedigree in the 70s. Producing at a good price, and excellent quality arms for turntables. The brand has never gone away and has a know-how pushed. It is often used to improve Technics turntables. The model herein, the 750D is a mid-range model, but the highest in the hierarchy Jelco, and ogle goes upmarket. It is 9 inches monopivot "PERFECTLY FINISHED", which is rare in this price range (with the exception of the most famous such as Rega or SME, with whom we hardly ever bad surprises). Arm floats on a film of oil and antiskating is adjusted via a knob that towards or away from a magnetic source. Note also THE contraindications weight (machine comes with two), although numbered and allow cells to adapt all common.
The installation is no problem. It is a very simple arm to implement. The manual is not the clearest, but we found it very easily anyway. Only the height adjustment of the arm can be done better. Some competitors offer simple dials to select / change easily. Here, it will unscrew the base, which is long and not ideal. One might also note wiring inside very "normal".
The playback quality is excellent, but I lack benchmarks, since I could not hear and use as rega arm, ems, nottingham, Linn, Technics, Dual and pro-ject, but which belong to me not (out of the question to play with shots). I can say that, in terms of sound, the arm removes and manages to leave the field open to cells that are two to four times the price without any problem. All come with a beautiful natural, medium and breathing sounds right, the treble is beautiful, very complex and still with that little bit sweet and pleasant end point, and the following serious all grain without fail.
The model has been in my possession a re-wiring internally before purchase, therefore, it is possible that some tweakage pollutes my opinion. Be aware reading the above lines. According to Internet sources, the tweaking would tend to make the sound more warm and open medium, but I can not confirm this, because mine was already Like this, out of the box.
