A vintage guitar with attitude.

Guild S300-DPublished on 07/05/11 at 09:06
This Guild guitar was built in the U.S.A. in 1977. It has a mahogany body and neck with a 24 fret ebony fretboard. Because this is an S-300D, it has been equipped with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck position. There is a volume and tone control for each pickup, a three way toggle selector switch, and a two way phase switch. It has a Guild style tune-a-matic bridge.

UTILIZATION

The body shape is truly unique, however it does allow for easy access to the upper frets. The body is relatively thin and the guitar is fairly light weight, but this is still a very resonant and well balanced instrument.

SOUNDS

I play all varieties of rock and this guitar is built for just that. I plug my Guild into a Peavey Classic 50 and several pedals consisting of a MXR Micro Amp, a Bodenhamer modded Boss SD-1, a Line 6 MM4, and an ISP Decimator. This guitar sounds great whether you’re playing clean or distorted. The PAF Pro in the neck is an excellent compliment to the Super Distortion in the bridge, adding a smooth creaminess to contrast the high output grind. The phase switch is an interesting concept, but is so subtle an effect it is virtually unnoticeable unless you are on a relatively loud clean channel.

OVERALL OPINION

My favorite thing about this guitar is how it looks. It is a VERY unique and original body design. When I purchased this guitar they were typically going for $700 on the used market. For a vintage guitar of this quality and craftsmanship, $700 is an excellent deal. If made today this guitar would probably retail for well over $1,000. My least favorite thing about this guitar is that they are so hard to find. I would love to own another one!

I have a 300d s guild for over 10 years now, mine comes from the United States (certificate stuck to the cover plate of the electron), it was built in 1979 (the date of identification made possible by the serial number engraved behind the head of the guitar). the body and neck are mahogany
this guitar is built in a single game, the two pickups are DiMarzio double active one 9 volt battery is housed dand the Electrical
microphones each have a control switch for activation, so it has multiple possible sound on this guitar, thanks to the 3-position selector.

This guitar has 24 frets, which is very nice for solos.

UTILIZATION

The neck of this guitar is super comfortable to play, access to the treble is very easy thanks to the cutaway of the guitar
this guitar is very light which is very pleasant when we play a while with standing.
the sound of this guitar is exellent, the sound is very hot Surta when the microphones are turned on (I have set the two mini potentiometer inside the electronic back of the guitar because it had a clear saturation easy, the gain is set to c a feast for the ears)

SOUNDS

I use this guitar for any type of music this guitar is suitable for all types of the Palm to the metallica guitar is very versatile, enabling the microphone (I'm back on again ...) can go on with a solo remarquable.j easy to use this guitar on a fender 15 watt amp small because I'm flat and I did the same pleasure on a big amp

OVERALL OPINION

I use this guitar since 1996 what I love about this guitar is its huge sound and ease of play, which is a shame is the lack of a little vibrato on the guitar (you can not have everything )
among all my guitars this one is my favorite, if I ever come across a sale somewhere I buy it direct, this guitar is a collector's item that is listed in the current € 1,500 (in a proper state of course! !)

I just acqurir an SD model 300D, delighted with this acquisition: the body is carved from one solid plank mahogany without any connection, the handle of a single pice of mahogany is al; The Ebony is Paisse: Class!

By contrast against what is described in the section Previous, the microphones are not active, which for a guitar SERIES manufactured in the United States in 1979, and a team PAF and a distortion, seems to me quite logical.

The volume and tone SETTING THE indpendant micro trs ffective offer corrections, although not in gnral I n'affectionne ffectues serious adjustments on the guitar.

UTILIZATION

The profile of the handle is a bit "old school" round pais, can make good habits and a pleasant change. Dcoupe the body and gives a two chamfers trs comfortable playing position, the reversal is perfect, it is trslgre is a guitar well think, overall the pro gear .

SOUNDS

The Di Marzio pickups and toggle switch 2, and 3 positions out of phase, can CRER trs varied sounds, excellent sound for blues, rock, metal ... as many guitars envy , harmonics fuse easily, it's all good!

In his own clear is trs, the position out of phase adds an empty intrt. In crunch or Disto can send the pudding in all styles!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it only rev just for now, the DSIR part of the fun!

Possder a Guild of the era, is heartwarming, if you see another pass by you go there free!
