I got this Hohner HRG DLX (II?) from my local pawn shop. There's a chip in the finish near the input jack. Not a deal breaker for me. Otherwise, in great shape: action, finish, intonation, everything else working well. No one around here knew about it. So, bcuz no one showed any interest, it was sold to me with a thick padded Hohner gig bag, quality and durable to protect the guitar, for $50 and tax. Here, came out to $54 and change. Crazy bcuz the quality of this guitar is obvious when one picks up and plays on it. New in the 2000's (or 1990's...?) it retailed for $500 new. I'm a noodler now; I'm older and had my run n fun. OG Rock and Alternative in the late 80's and 90's. Covers Band in the 2000's. Just plunk away now, maybe some day to get serious again. For now, I use this with a Line 6 15 watt, or a Stephen S20 8R 20 watts 8" and built in tuner. I use either a Digitech RP100A, an old Zoom 505, or some stomp boxes I got lying around. The price alone would entice ppl to buy it, but here are the features: 24 fret Rosewood and Maple with the skunk stripe. Nice light frets for flying up and down the neck. Shredder guitar. Nice sealed tuners. 2 Mighty Mite humbuckers. 2 volume knobs and one tone knob. The middle knob is a push/pull coil tap that actually sounds great. Hardware is great. A Wilkinson V 50 2 piece tremolo. Grey/Black/Charcoal finish. The Horn design is kinda funny. The sales guy said he preferred the Hohner ST 59 Strat copy. I've owned a yellow finish one in the 90's. Those are great. This one as well. Sounds good to me. Enough variation tonally for most to ALL music styles. Only bcuz no one knew about the guitar, and that chip pictured, was why I got it at the price I did. Like said earlier, it originally was sold for $499.95 back when. I honestly don't know when they came out. I've seen different dates. No stamp anywhere to indicate the date. I just feel like I got a bargain. Decently versatile. The store intonated the guitar well. Sales guy and Luthier said it was easy to adjust neck, bridge. It's a keeper for me. Especially for the price!! I've seen various prices for these used on all the usual suspect sites: Reverb, C/L, Sam Ash, Market Place, etc. No lower than $200, and up. So, taking all into consideration, I'd definitely pay $50 again!! Or the higher amount. IMHO, this guitar sounds great, intonated well, very playable, and great for all levels of players. I'd say intermediate to professional. A great main or back up. TY for reading!!
