    Real metal PRS SE

PRS SE Paul AllenderPublished on 11/28/11 at 07:32
The PRS SE line of guitars is a line of guitars that PRS makes overseas and they are much more affordable than their USA made line of guitars. A lot of the PRS signature guitars are SE models so fans of the artist can afford them more easily. This is the current signature model for the Cradle of Filth guitarist Paul Allender. This is the current version as the older one had passive pickups I think this one is much better for heavy music. This is basically a modded Custom 24 SE. It has a mahogany body with a maple neck. The fretboard is ebony with 24 frets. It has bat inlays instead of the traditional birds. The pickups are a set of EMG's. It has an 81TW in the bridge and an 89 in the neck.…

It has an 81TW in the bridge and an 89 in the neck. The Allender obviously wanted the versatility of coil splitting. The bridge is a traditional PRS tremolo and the controls are traditional as well with a volume and tone with a 3 way switch.

    UTILIZATION

These SE models do not come with locking tuners but everything else is pretty much PRS spec. This model has the wide thin neck which is really nice. It is like a 60s Gibson but with a flatter radius. The ebony fretboard is great and something you do not see often on even USA made PRS guitars. The bat inlays are pretty crazy and do not help much once you are at the higher frets because they are so big. I am not a big tremolo fan so I didnt use the tremolo much but PRS tremolos are pretty good even with their simple looking design.

    SOUNDS

The EMG 81tw and the 89 are both splittable EMG pickups. But since you cannot really split an active pickups these pickups are actually 2 pickups in 1 case. These EMG's pretty much have a single coil packed in with them. Ill start with the 81tw in the bridge. With this pickup you get an EMG 81 with an EMG SA in the same pickup case. This essentially gives you humbucker and single coil tones in an active pickup without splitting anything, and these are true single coil tones. With this design you get the classic 81 sound unmolested with true single coil tone. The 81 tone needs no introduction. It has a crushing high end sound that can cut through the thickest gain or the muddiest mix. The EMG SA is one of their best single coil models. It has a very fat sound. It is almost like a single coil EMG 85. You still get the single coil twang but with this pickup the twang has some body to it. It is a very cool design. Not many people use active single coils so with this you get a very strong single coil sound. The 89 is basically the same thing but with an EMG 85 base. So it has better clean tones and the tone is thicker and has more bottom throughout the range.

    OVERALL OPINION

This is a nice signature guitar. It doesnt have any huge logos on it or names so you do not look like an advertisement for someone else. It is a solid PRS with pickups that work great for metal. There are not many PRS guitars that come with EMG's stock. I can think of this and the Nick Catanse model and that model is not a good signature model. It is covered in logos and red binding and all sorts of crazy stuff. If you are looking for a PRS with EMG pickups get this one. Its great because it does not cost any more than a normal PRS SE guitar. They are all well priced.

Mahogany body with maple table maple veneer and custom Allender Burst

    UTILIZATION

The neck is ultra comfortable. It is thin wide, so large and fine. The best race I have ever used. And yet I had a jackson, LTS, BC Rich and Schecter LAG
access to the latest cargo is pretty average, I think they could further refine the junction body / neck
The ergonomics are very good, it's a PRS, and is light enough.

    SOUNDS

It is suitable for all types of music, it is with the original pickups very versatile. too much for my taste, but it's really not a fault.
I play on an ultra + peayvey any lamp, high gain amp, and a boss gt-3 just for effect.
The sounds are rather bold with the original pickups. The bridge pickup has a good output level to attack until all the metal styles. It is less clear, however, that EMG, and a lower output level. It delivers more bass than the EMG and the sound is more rounded.
The neck pickup is very plain. In the clear is pretty good, the sound is round and rather hot, but it's not terrible saturated, the output level is not high enough.
I'll change the pickups in all likelihood to put microphones less versatile and more suited to my style (metal).

    OVERALL OPINION

    I've had little time.
I really love the look with the insert bat on the handle. the handle is adapted to a really great fast game.
El'acquérir before I owned a BC Rich Warlock, BC Rich NT a JRV, a Jackson Kelly KE-3, a schecter hellraiser, a lag hardmaster Rockline.
PRS Paul Allender is in the top of all this
this choice I would do this hesitation, not even 650 euros with the new cover, this is really a killer.

The neck is really nice, the first time I tried it, I told myself "bug is a real highway!" And finally I discovered, after buying the beast, it was more a highway, it was really a runway.

    SOUNDS

This guitar is well suited to my style of music, which is actually quite varied, from gypsy jazz to black metal. It is extremely versatile, that's what I like about her.
The neck pickup provides a warm round sound and clean, with some distortion is enough.
The bridge pickup, it offers a more slamming into clean, distortion and it is quite indescribable *-*
I still think changing the pickups in a more or less near future, just to make me happy and pampered this beautiful guitar.

    OVERALL OPINION

I own this guitar since mid-September.
It suits me in every respect, it is really versatile.
Before it, I owned a Epiphone Les Paul Studio entry level, so I immediately made the difference, it goes without saying.
    I love her inlays, which are at least unusual <img class="smiley" src="/images/audiofanzine/interface/smileys/icon_lol.gif" alt="" />
The value for money is pretty good, I got it for around 800 euros with a game cover + string + 53 + picks two jacks (offered by the seller), as if it were to do again, I would do this choice without hesitation!

    Very good guitar

    Mahogany body, flamed maple top
24 fret maple neck with rosewood fingerboard markers shaped bat

    PRS SE Bridge
    PRS SE Mechanical
    EMG 81 bridge pickup
    EMG 89 neck pickup
1 volume common to two microphones + split neck pickup
Common + 1 tone split bridge pickup
    A 3-position selector

    UTILIZATION

The neck is relatively thin and is very fast. I usually played on a Les Paul that has a thicker handle. Weight is very acceptable (similar to a Stratocaster). This guitar is very easy to play and access to the treble does not pose too many problems.

    SOUNDS

    SOUNDS

This guitar is obviously oriented towards the metal, however what I bleuffé, she's very versatile. The pickups are very powerful, but thanks to the two push-pull can be obtained with an array sound quite broad. The knobs are also very efficient, very linear.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it since November 2010. I tried a Cort, a Lag Roxanne 1000. What I like most is its color and finish, because even for a PRS SE, we can see the expertise of the brand. What I like least was the strings of origins (9-42 I think) that I quickly replaced by 11-52. The value for money is very good given the level of finish. I think I will ever be the choice.

Good balance of the instrument, which does not weigh too heavy either.

The finishing of the instrument are very good, no flash or anything. It's nickel! PRS SE did a great job, but I had the opportunity to compare with Tremonti Singlecut, I find it beyond the level finish and EMG provide fishing and fat!

The former model was already very nice, but I have not been packed. There, I flashed live and I must say they are very different and that the 2010 version is much more to my expectations!

    SOUNDS

I play mainly rock music punchy and meta all the sauces, but I'm not sectarian;)

    Currently, I shoot with a plugged into a Peavey 5150 4 * 12
Basically, I'm not friends with mahogany guitars (I also own an Ibanez Xiphos) because I often have problems finding the sound I like and edged mahogany + Peavey, it tends to give a Festiva bass and midrange ...

Over time I finally find the right settings (I have a Boss Equalizer GE7 in my effects loop as well) and here I must confess that I have a pig with her that PRS!

    In clean:

All sounds are profitable: neck, middle and bridge. It goes from warm and bluesy singing (handle) to clean and dry 100% right Metallica (EMG81 What, Me I love this kind of clean, too).

Pannel s'éargi very interesting with splits. A simple stick microphone is always happy to clean for solos or lead.

    In disto:

Good fishing on the guitar with EMG (although I do not consider the ultimate pickups, I like them much anyway).

Palm Mute the large, harmonics coming out very easily.

The sound is clean, warm and quite round but still aggressive. I found myself very well and lowering the gain at the amp or guitar you can easily tap into hard rock and sounds very much vintage.

Totally satisfied sounds offered by this instrument! Very versatile and convincing!

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it since last summer, at every concert in my group since I've (almost once a month).

I can not get enough, she offers a range of sounds that I try to use at best. I play this guitar in a rock / metal songs are our inspirations varied: from the ride to metalcore ultra speed, it ensures all brilliantly.

It is very versatile and quality of the instrument is remarkable for such a price! PRS SE typed very high on this one and we propose a guitar visually original and successful, with extra sounds for all kinds of rockers!

All that to say you can charge whatever;)
