We knew that Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith was part of The Grange journey, but Spitfire kept the secret about Roger Taylor (Queen) and Andy Gangadeen’s (Massive Attack) participation in the adventure. The three drummers recorded at the Headley Grange, a UK studio that saw the making in many legendary albums from the 60s and 70s (Led Zeppelin’s IV, Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffity, Fleetwod Mac, Genesis and more).
The Grange is a 55 GB library featuring 6 kits and 38 557 samples for both Free and full versions of Kontakt. They drums were captured on a 24-track 2” Studer 2” tape recorder with high-end and rare Neve and API preamps and microphones and you’ll get 3 mixes by Nick Taylor (Tight, Mid and Epic).
You’ll get multiple mic perspectives (ambient, ground, 1st and 2nd floors), as well as direct mics for the kick, snare, hi-hats and toms, all of which can be mixed in Kontakt to customize the sound.
The Grand offers multi-sampled kits, loops and licks for ready-mix and editable grooves (transpose, expression, low-pass filter, tempo sync…).
The Grange is available for the introductory price of £149 until February 15th. The full story about the project is online at www.spitfireaudio.com.
