Distortion Series "Amp in a Box" Wampler.
Brian Wampler is known to have changed the pedals and have created its own box pedals quality in the USA.
The pedal gives a tone similar to that of Soldano SLO from the description.
Settings: Bass / Mid / Treble, Gain, Volume, mini switch Overdrive / Crunch Boost
Two switches: one to trigger the distortion, the other to activate the boost
Pedal good quality with a slightly cheaper price but is justified in my opinion.

UTILIZATION

Clear manual with examples of settings.
Pedal easy to use.
The boost can be engaged without using the distortion.
Personally, the little boost I want. I will prefer that the second switch used to switch from crunch to overdrive, so the two colors of the pedal are interesting.

SOUND QUALITY

I bought it for one simple reason. For several years, I had the Soldano SP77 preamp with a big config (Amp + 2x12). Given the constraints to make such a config compared to small scenes, small aparts, small cars and small rehearsal rooms, I wanted to have the same sound easily transportable.
Well I found! This pedal is just fantastic!
Hiwatt tested, ie with a good basis for its clear with good headroom, this pedal delivers sound Soldano. Whoever task!
For those who do not know and are based on the popularity of the brand, it can be confusing. But I can confirm that Brian Wampler did a magic trick, he managed to get the essence of a Soldano:
1. It cut a little low indeed. But no pb, the bass knob to plenty of racing to add excessive.
2. There is a dose of Mid and Treble feature Soldano
3. It screams! with harmonics in all directions
4. The grain is tight but not too much (unless all the latest Hi Gain amp Diezel type MarkV etc ...)
5. An uncompressed sound with dynamic furious.
6. A sound that comes off all the time, whether you're in rhythm, in riff or solo
With the preamp, I've never had a pb whatever the context. I always pierced the mix, and more rhythmic solo. Hence the lack of interest for me the boost, equivalent to volume, we are always at the top of everyone.
With this pedal, I found it. Honestly it's enjoyable I swear. A little riff Nuno qqs notes to fingers to Mark Knopfler etc ... you are!
I think that we should not buy this pedal thinking "Modern Hi-Gain." You have to buy if you want a Soldano, that's all. It does not look like Mesa, Marshall, Engl or whatever you want.
This is a Hi Gain a little old school now, screaming and stuffed with Mid and Treble.
It was not the width of the large distortion sounds modern post 2000. Ditto the grain is not modern. All today's styles with metal scrapers SUR-fat will not be satisfied with this pedal I think (I have not tried it out with standard tuning or 7 or 8 strings though ...).
Although équalo is highly efficient (the race is amazing Mid of completely dug stuffed), the spectrum is still concentrated on expensive frequency Mike Soldano.
If your a good bass player sends his heavy families, let him its frequencies and complete your SLOstortion, and your listeners will pick up a well-balanced sauce to enjoy them ...
For my part, I found my grail in crunch mode with the gain at 3/4, 1 hour bass, mid noon, Treble at 10am. The Overdrive mode gives an even tighter grain, with more sustain on the notes, a little more compression. By adjusting the équalo, I have not had a runny, this is against a little more complicated to find the right mix, but it works.
There is a really good headroom and sustain this mode.
But I repeat on one as the other modes, it really has the grain Soldano.

OVERALL OPINION

A pedal that will stay with me a while I think ...
