Das Musikding The Screamer - Overdrive kit

Salvation. I just finished assembling this kit. Here is my opinion on this overdrive. This is a clone of TS-808, with the ability to modify two components into the TS-9, or install a switch to switch from one mode to another. I assembled the pedal following the signs for TS-808, the opamp supplied with the kit has been replaced by a JRC4559P purchased for testing, I'll try to test with other opamp.Un capacitor 47NF original was replaced by a 100nf for more bass.

UTILIZATION

SOUND QUALITY

The effects are they effective, responsive and realistic enough? Which ones you prefer, you hate?

I bought this kit to recycle a box MXR classic distortion that I was never satisfied. I tried several changes to the MXR and I eventually burn something on the pcb that I no longer want to repair. To return the kit without drilling, this is almost perfect (I must use a 9V connector smaller than supplied). This sounds really screamer leave me on the ass. Whatever the setting, I like it, the boost to hate, symmetrical or asymmetrical (as more subtle effect, and I do not know which is which on the selector. There is one that seems softer than the other, but it depends on the settings). MXR made me really ch ... to find an acceptable sound (and again). I know this is subjective, heing, nothing personal against MXR.

Which instruments do you use?

Strat and Tele CIJ, electronic and standard microphones us VanZandt (Vin + for True Wine and strat to tele), all of Mesa TOV on the clean channel. It sends block so I have not tested it on channel 2. All this volume unreasonable, ie more moles in less than a kilometer after three minutes of play

Edit: I just tested the screamer on channel 2 of the mesa TOV, do not worry, it still works. Grain thickens again with my config.

TS not necessarily something, but a lot of that bouzins kuinent. I am unable to say if it sounds like, more or less "good" than TS, and do not count on me for taf. Otherwise, I have a PDS-1 Abinez girlfriend.

What feature do you like most?

Sounds, really.


What feature do you like the least?

Unless all welded in place in the case, difficult to move all components to perform a test signal (basically, listen to see if it works) without breaking a welded wire. Once that is in the box, do not worry. I would have liked Musikding provide Alpha pots split shaft for reuse mxr, I need to buy more (plus a DC connector) but nothing serious.

How do you rate the quality / price?

This is a kit to assemble, so the price / quality ratio depends on what you already like equipment available. Whether to buy iron, solder braid more and / or pump, casing, drill and drill the metal, it's a very bad ratio, unless you decide to invest in several future uses. If you already have all this is an excellent deal. Best?
