Published on 12/29/13 at 14:19Full Drive combines a JFET boost and a rather typical Tube Screamer OD .
According to Fulltone it is a reissue of the first version of the pedal with the chip which also was in the original TS-808.
Both sides of the pedal (Boost / OD) are independent, which is an interesting advantage over previous versions. Chaining is also adjustable, which can be useful for some (Boost OD or OD Boost).
Inside the pedal is very clean, the case is solid and smaller than older versions.
UTILIZATION
No need to book, it is fairly standard as pedal. Gain for the boost and volume / tone / gain for the OD.
90/Asym the switch allows you to choose a user typed TS or a linear OD with mediums less marked.
Limiter Germanium is effective and can be used to limit a little momentum in the clear.
SOUND QUALITY
I expected a lot from this pedal, and I was not disappointed!
The boost is rather transparent and sounds great. I even prefer it to my ARC Klone. Highs are not aggressive. At low volume, it may be a bit "dark" but when you push the volume is just excellent!
OD part is really top. It's very close to my TS-808 HW. Perhaps a bit more in the low mids but playing with the tone knob of the impressive results obtained likeness! A little less steep perhaps that is not so bad.
I'm not me particularly dwelt on the "Asym" but in short, it is the field of OCD with a little less headroom.
I use the pedal with Les Paul on a JTM 45/100 already quite crunch. It responds perfectly to the volume of the guitar and has a nice headroom. In short no bad sounds in this small orange box. This is a great Swiss Army knife.
OVERALL OPINION
I use the pedal every day for a month. I have a big package of OD and other shop and it is in the top of the basket!
The combination Boost / OD is very convenient and offers a nice variety of sounds. No need to break your head to choose between 5 OD or breaking your back carrying 5.
If I lost, I would buy another immediately for sound and practicality.
