The Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer is a boutique overdrive pedal that I've used with electric guitar. I don't know how well this would work with other instruments, but of course like any pedal it can be used with anything that has 1/4" connections to plug into it. Homebrew advertises the Power Screamer as their flagship pedal - and for very good reason. The pedal requires standard nine volt power and has 1/4" connections for input and output. It isn't rack mountable in any form.

UTILIZATION

After playing with the Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer for only a few minutes, I felt like I had a pretty good grasp on using it. Of course it took a little bit longer to learn how to get all the different possible tones from it, but it's typical functions and basic parameters are easy to understand and manipulate. These parameters include gain, level, and tone, which are pretty standard for overdrive and distortion pedals. However, it also has a three way diode selector, which is basically different types of tone modes, two of which have built in compression and one of which is for a classic overdrive sound. This selector is huge as it bumps the versatility of the pedal up a whole lot. It also has two foot switches for boost and for engaging the effect. I don't believe that users will need a manual for this.

SOUND QUALITY

I really can't think of a bad thing to say about the Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer in terms of tone quality. It just doesn't get that much better than this one. It's extremely full and crisp sounding, with a tone of room for control and versatility. I've used the pedal in the recording studio where I was the engineer and not the player. The guitarist was using a Gibson Les Paul Studio and a '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb. The result of the tracks was really an incredible thing, and to date are some of my proudest work in terms of guitar sound quality. It was really a mix of the player and the equipment involved, but the Power Screamer absolutely had a major roll in this.

OVERALL OPINION

I was honestly expecting the price of the Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer to be much more than it is, but to my delight it really doesn't cost much. It's in another world from many overdrive pedals out there that are this price, lower, and higher. IT will of course conjure up comparisons to the Tube Screamer, but I honestly like this pedal better than your standard Tube Screamer. If you're looking for a versatile overdrive pedal at a price that is impossible to beat for the quality, go no further than the Power Screamer.

1. CARACTRISTIQUESQuels are the effects, or types of effects available? What technology is used? (Analog numrique, lamp ...) Are they ditables? Via an editor Mac / PC? What is the connection? (Audio / MIDI) Is it a MODEL rack or rack?

Analogue Casing trs solid, the perfect size (not an IT thing and not a big void in bote as B ** M ***),
A transistor, a screamer Power says it all, it is a tube screamer be amliore sense. 3 knobs vol., Tone, Gain and a mini toggle switch diodes 3 pos.et two switches: an on / off and a Boost.
Easy connection, one input, one output and a 9v connector, perfect for my garland auun one spot and background noise.
Note construction of a trs finely crafted tweed varnished finish on my copy (obtained in an exchange, not even I knew personal HBE). Switches True Bypass, top solder, guaranteed life against manufacturing default, the battery holder is riveted on the door, the whole is poured into the rsine it. Note that there are ways to "upgrade" that easily top 4558 because it is not welded but located on a support. Their site offers Burr Brown or stack in 4558. Mine is still my home.

UTILIZATION

So easy, simple manual.
So it's like a screamer with 3 positions of diodes and a boost of 10 dB.

LED in position 1: the classic TS9 what (I'm not the Ibanez but must be + / - a)

Diode position2: the same with a little more gain and bass, a little compressbr + />
Diode position3: the two with even more compression and gain limited Big Muff is ti simulate a sense amplifier 5W lamps at the edge of the explosion they explain on the record.

SOUND QUALITY

3. QUALITY SONORELes effects are they effective, suitable and adequate ralistes? Which instruments do you use? What are those you prfrez, you dtest?

Personally, as I said, I know.

So I use it with a small lamp without any high gain channel.
Power is the screamer boost for me.

I use it in a position to gain background because it does not saturate the masses, well enough. In this case, it is like my Ibanez 80's (SUPERMETAL and metal loading).

INTERESTED position 2 is because there are more bass, but there is more compression, I lower the gain by half.


Position 3 is a bit like the Big Muff gain background. I do not use near, compression death. Or, I put almost no gain in this case.


The boost provides 10dB of gain and + in +. I do not, but it's good for the sound a bit radical.

OVERALL OPINION

4. NOTICE GLOBALDepuis how long do you use? What is the particular feature you like best and least? Have you tried many other models before acqurir? How do you report qualitprix? With the exprience, you do again this choice? ...

Then:

the overdrive and the time are my two main effects, I possde so many OD: two Ibanez prcites (do not rely on their behalf, they are actually boost OD. A Jacques Mercer also Box.

The Power is a little screamer diffrent in that it does not have that bump down CHARACTERISTICS medium as in the old Ibanez to sign Maxxon circuit ...

Personally, I love the bump because I just serves as a boost with the gain all the way down and can make a bump and a beautiful grain.

The Power Screamer is a nice alternative with more rgalges thanks to the toggle switch and the boost, but not the legalization Graves / med / high as my other 3 pedals. Here is a Tone. Of course, it's pretty much a rgul n'crase not his left and does not send a swarm of bees right, but it is less than legalization I think even if a simplifying rglages. I AIM to push mediums for example.

So in the end:

Nice product, well built and nice sound (if you like the sound of the original will, for others, look elsewhere). This is not a distortion, not a level of distortion, but can provide grain and compression.
As always, a matter of taste.
Personally, I like, it has become one of my prfres, diffrent of my other, and I got quite versatile. I will test the occasion may be changing the chip.
