Published on 01/26/14 at 06:06Overdrive pedal based on the Moog Ladder Filter.
Analog completely.
True bypass.
Good finish, the more it looks solid, inspires confidence.
Settings:
GAIN: gain knob, very progressive race. Rule is the level with which we attack the filter (pre-gain)
DRIVE: Switch to change the gain range: +6.8 dB to +48 dB or +16 dB to +57 dB
FILTER: Filter setting knob. Reacts differently depending on settings and Tone Peak. If the switch is OFF Peak filter is low-pass and softens the high frequencies, if the switch is ON adds a boost to your before the low-pass frequency.
PEAK: If activated adds a boost of +15 dB boost at the cutoff frequency.
TONE: knob to adjust the overall tone.
OUTPUT: Output Level (Gain post)
EXPRESSION PEDAL INPUT: (Optional) Input for an expression pedal that varies the cutoff frequency of the filter ---> effect Wha-Wha
UTILIZATION
Not complicated at all.
The manual contains explanations and examples of settings.
Personally, I plugged direct and groping I easily found what I wanted. Then I read the manual for details of each setting ...
Nothing revolutionary at the config pedal but very well thought out, there just has what it takes, a side adjustment Gain / Output, on the other Tone / Filter knobs and running is very effective so many possibilities ...
SOUND QUALITY
There are many sounds and possible uses.
You can go from dirty boost to fuzz stoner greasy through the wild overdrive or softer ... and even-wha wha! What you ask?
In all these cases use the pedal is never completely transparent and adds a small (or large) grain very musical! Your sound always comes beautifully dirty, and that's very very good!
What is already registered as? Moog? Oh yes, I can confirm for those who doubt it is the Moog!
What I love is that despite the fact that color the signal, she respects. Ie with settings Tone / Filter neutral you do not go, for example, losing bass when you press the damn button.
After if you want awesome sound: no problem! You set the tone for the overall color and the filter can resonate some middle frequency / acute to out of the mix: Efficient Hyper!
Even extreme settings are musical!
It's very versatile, so much so that we could quite imagine having 2 in a config ...
For my part, I use a guitar with vintage humbuckers mounted on a JCM800 and OR50. I already have a job that makes OCD into overdrive but I was looking for a little extra something on some parts that should be more wild! I tried it for a lot of fuzz in addition to or instead of my overdrive: Fulltone Ultimate Octave, Blackout Effectors Musket fuzz, Fuzz Blower Jacques, BK Butler Tube Drive, Zvex Fuzz Factory ... Each time the sound was too different from the basic overdrive or too dirty by using it as a supplement. With the MF Drive I put the gain at zero or almost and I boost my OCD with ... the top, I get what I want! Hallelujah!
OVERALL OPINION
A week of use and it already has the scratch ass and his place on the pedalboard.
I ordered it online after recommendations from a bassist friend who adopted no regrets!
I tried a lot of pedal overdrive / fuzz (see above) and I think the single Drive MF of a kind! I really felt the need to make a different product! It "eats" its not to transform and adds a beautiful grain moogesque!
Frankly Moog Bravo! The price of € 166 is more than reasonable for a product of this quality.
I won, I put 10 everywhere. Settings is needed versatility, sound, price ...
