The PQ Mastering Equalizer Model 1540/1544 is a new revised edition of the SPL PQ Mastering Equalizer Model 2050. Both units are based on SPL’s 120V Rail Technology – a technology supposed to allow music to sound more natural and to reduce hearing fatigue.
All five bands can each be activated or deactivated, and users get the possibility (for every single band) to seperately switch between Constant Q and Proportional Q – a kind of circuit that has reportedly never before been achieved in any other equalizer.
Each channel can completely be activated or deactivated, thanks to Auto-Bypass, even automated in a freely selectable time frame. Bypass of each band and constant Q of the left side can be controlled by the right side in Link mode.Another feature is the possibility to boost or cut the amplitude to 20 dB, but if you only wish minor changes of the music material, you can reduce the intensity of the boost or cut by using the 1/4 Gain-Switch, which regulates the potentiometer from max +/-20dB to +/-5dB cut, giving more precision for small corrections.
More details are available at SPL’s website.
