« Good sound card in all »
Published on 11/11/10 at 11:15I bought it for recording during rehearsals.
Inputs
- Channels 1 and 2 as needed jack or XLR microphone with amplification and gain adjustment directly on the interface. Possibility to add a 48V phantom power
- Tracks 3-8 standard jack
Outputs
- Tracks 1-8 Plugs
Each channel input and output is independently adjustable for volume and balance.
There is a MASTER for release
One can redirect the inputs to channels 7 and 8 on the front that are each dedicated to connecting stereo headphones
There are 2 inputs and 2 MIDI outputs
It is installed on an old machine with 2.2GHZ 750MB of RAM. I have a second Windows XP installation without updates, no network, no internet ... which I use exclusively to recordings.
UTILIZATION
The drivers are stable, I never had any problem with. I use sonar, it allows me to record 8 channels without worries and redirect them directly wired to the outputs on a mixer. I have a latency of 256, which suits me fine.
I also used my house between my midi keyboard and my master arranger. It allows me to read a midi file on my pc and play along.
DirectWIRE the system is very simple. I have not had occasion to use it but just 2 points for connecting a virtual cable into place.
GETTING STARTED
Installation is hassle-free, the only snag is that the driver is not signed, it has a warning from Windows.
I have no manual, but it passes easily, especially since we find on the net when needed.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for 2 years. I have not tried the other model. I wanted a PCI card because I was not sure that my machine would follow USB.
What I like most? Hard to say ... it suits me perfectly.
The least? Maybe I should have liked more of a microphone input.
Value for money: nothing to say, good affordable equipment
I remake that choice without hesitation
