Amplitube Metal is an expansion pack for IK Multimedia Amplitube. With the introduction of Amplitube Custom Shop, individual amp models in this package can be purchased separately rather than as a bundle.
IKM Amplitube is a software plug-in that can be used inside a DAW, and can also be used as a stand-alone plug-in.
AT Metal brings a collection of 'high-gain' amps to Amplitube. If you are not satisfied with the amount of drive/distortion of the amps in AT, the Metal expansion pack is a no-brainer.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I really like the amp sounds in AT Metal. However, I don't like many of the cabinet options, even though there are a lot to choose from. I almost always use the same 2-3 cabinets, which is a little bit disappointing.
I should mention though that I am not a metal guitarist. I typically play rock music so I like my amp to have a decent amount of gain, but I definitely don't take it to the extreme. Someone that plays more true 'metal' may like the cabinets better.

OVERALL OPINION

Amplitube Metal has a few unique high-gain amps compared to other software sims. The Randall Warhead and Peavey 5150 are really cool, and have a different voicing and saturation than the typical Marshall/Mesa-Boogie. The choice of the JMP100 is not the typical JCM800/900 and Plexi found in most amp sims, which is a nice addition. The Mesa-Boogie Rectifier amps sound good, but are also found in a lot of other software (Guitar Rig 5, Pod Farm 2, Pod HD, etc). I would have liked to see even more amps like Bogner (although he seems to be pretty cozy with Line 6) and more Peavey amps other than the 5150.
Since the release of Amplitube Metal, IKM has released amp sims of Soldano amps and Engl amps. If you want high-gain sound, these amps are a great way to supplement the AT Metal pack.

Frankly from other software, installation is super fast and if everything is compatible ... from a problem p'tit ... for those with an M-Audio Project Mix ... thinking of renewing the installation of the firmware ... because I had a rotten when I put the two amps in series or parallel (but at the same time, gender stereo sound for scratching)
and if not for the manual was deja vu is better but it does little or nothing!

the software works well on this machine for the hand or config I put two amps in series or Parellel but at the same time ... we hear the crack!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for three weeks, and it is deadly ... clean sounds are of a quality (really huge!) nothing to do with the version hendrix ... by against c I regret that there is no great variety of its clear (especially sounds good strat hot)
therefore REMEDY ca, I advise you to put a quality of pramp before attacking from the sound card ... or connect online or insert to treat her out of the software (but it cost a bit expensive )
In short, I ref'r this choice with great pleasure since c the only software that offers good emulations trs METAL amp with effects that sound quality!

I admit, I have long been playing around with the version circulating on the Internet. But it is so good that I naturally decided to reward the designers who deserve it.

A few words about modeling in general.
I am a fan of this technology for some time. Products like Amplitube work wonders are so much more affordable to use than transplanting in Micro ... especially when you practice at night and in the middle of Paris. So when I can I prefer to use my Flextone3 AIR and outputs that are excellent, I go through a good preamp and I enter the RME DIGI96. Here is the beautiful and well as it should. But when I do not have much time to play with it's all live in the Toneport UX1 and AmpliTube Metal. No need to take the lead, a headphones on and boom, big sound right away.
As usual I do not want to know if the sound is exactly that of a Triple Rectifier in the 4x12 is going well, not that I do not care. All I ask is a good seed, a type, and allows himself to mix it without too much headaches. Nothing to say, this is deadly for Amplitube. I record the sound "dry" and if I had his back to the registration request adjustments in the mix every once in place it does not pose a problem. The dream.

I play in a few death metal bands, and I consider myself a pretty solid metal guitarist. I know what to look for when it comes to metal tones, and I'm always looking for some sort of modeler that can produce those famous 5150, Recto, Savage 120, etc. tones. This modelers attempts to do those, but it fails miserably. The program works by getting an interface, plugging your guitar into that interface and plugging the interface into the computer. You then just load up the stand alone application or enable the VST in your favorite DAW. I never experienced any compatibility issues, so no problems there. The manual is probably clear, but I never read it. Everything is real simple to access and get to know, but there are a few odd things. Just mess around and you'll be able to get it in no time.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The biggest issue with this is the tone. There are some seriously problems with what these guys think a good metal tone is. It's super scooped and totally buzzy. I have no clue how they thought that's the metal tone everybody wants. On top of that, it's very stiff and doesn't give like a normal tube amp does. This causes issues when trying to do lead lines especially. If you're constantly fighting the sim, you're not going to be able to play to your fullest potential. I didn't experience any stability issues with this like I did some of the other programs, so they at least fixed that problem. It takes up a little bit of memory, but most of today's computers should be able to handle it no problem.

OVERALL OPINION

The program is thin, buzzy and pretty sterile. It might work in some sort of grindcore or experimental hardcore punk/crust band, but there's no way I could get it to work for the type of metal that I play. It just sounded too fake and felt even worse. There are better free options out there for those that want to try them.

All easy. Cons by the authorization system online is silly, productive and cons: it does not prevent the pirate version to move and work very well and is ch ** people who bought the software. Band chitterlings, if you spend more time developing and less time to protect, you would sell more.

Oddly, some versions of AmpliTube not recognize my old sound card Hoontech, but this one is OK.

Excellent. Zero latency, zero bug below three instances running simultaneously in SX3, and as I play alone and only have two hands it's good enough for me.

Compared to Guitar Rig 3 is less flexible and less configurable but I like much the sound that I find most "raw", less clean, closer to what I really get with an amp ... on the other hand, just like the review says below, I find the clean sounds great especially with lots of strange effects that sound really good but distos softies and I use Amplitube for my Fender overdrive.

For how long have you been using it?
Two weeks, so I tried to amp simulators (I bought Guitar Rig 1 and ReValver when it came out) that my opinion seems stable

What thing do you like most/least about it?
I love the clean sounds. Really. The sound of thunder delays and reverbs as well, but I like the stuff of space that sound is not digital so it can not be for all guitarists. For cons, I do not use it for distos, it is too soft knee (I know it's strange but true). I also like Amplitube Fender, I use both in X-Gear and then beats it.

What is your opinion about the value for the price?
Excellent, simply, 170 euros is the price of a good distortion pedal, guys. And in his clear, ringing this simulator qussi although amplification system ten times more expensive, at least under the conditions of my home studio where I use them.

Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...
