Line 6 Pod Farm is the direct successor to Line 6's Gearbox software, and although functionally, it is very similar to Gearbox, the layout and aesthetics have been much improved in Pod Farm. Pod Farm includes over 15 guitar amplifier emulations, over 20 guitar cabs, 5 bass amps and cabs, over 20 stomp box and studio effects, and 5 microphone preamps. What is new here is the ability to run two amplifiers at once, which allows for some deep creative possibilities. There are also many more guitar amps, bass amps, and effects that can be purchased in addition to the basic package.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

One great thing about Line 6 software, is that it runs almost flawlessly on Windows systems. With the supported Line 6 hardware (which is necessary to run Pod Farm), the hardware processes the sound directly, allowing for zero latency monitoring. This, thankfully, bypasses the main problem with most PC systems..latency. This way, when you play your guitar lines, there is no noticeable delay, and even the smallest delay can be very noticeable.

Line 6 has some of the best guitar emulations available, and Pod Farm is no exception. Although the sound will always sound digital and synthesized when the distortions are turned up, and it's compared directly to the real thing, the convenience of being able to play through an amped guitar system, at anytime, anywhere, is invaluable. You can quickly record scratch tracks and guitar lick ideas, and the emulations sound very good for any sounds with low distortion. In fact, I prefer Line 6 emulations for clean guitar over the real clean channels on my Mesa amplifiers, especially for super clean guitar lines.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, the Line 6 Pod Farm is a solid product, and although many guitarists still may not be on board with digital emulations, no one can deny the versatility and flexibility this tool can bring to any recording artist's table.

It's always the same system for online purchases of add-ons pack software at Line 6. We do everything by Line 6 Monkey.

No major problems on Mac OS X is more on my old Powerbook G4.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

My config is the Toneport UX2 for several years so no compatibility issues since it's the same thing.
AU plugin mode, no problem at the moment in my software of choice (Logic Pro 7 for now).

OVERALL OPINION

This software adds one thing to Gearbox Software (standalone or plugin): Dual tone that is the ability to have two rigs simultaneously.

And when we try some presets, one wonders why Line 6 had not done before so some sounds take on a new dimension.

Owner of standalone Gearbox for my Toneport, I picked up the portfolio to go to Pod Farm Plugin (it seems that Pod Farm standalone is free for people who have a Toneport). I should have done this a long time to have all my sounds preamps, bass, guitar in non-destructive in Logic. By this I do not regret my purchase.

Note though that the new graphical interface with its method "Cover Flow" to navigate the stuff is beautiful and changes a little.
Preset management has improved weight: you can see the amp model presets in the browser.

Otherwise, the sounds are exactly the same as for Gearbox, ie from the POD XT.
The versin POD Farm Platinum provides access to) all line extensions of 6 packs.
I had my pack pack bass and FX are also available in POD Farm as well as in Gearbox.

In conclusion: a new interface and a dual tone mode. For the rest there is always the same as in Gearbox (without GP online on the other hand).

My config is simple, direct tonport UX2 in my PC intel Pentium 4. no latency issues (Just set the buffer in case)

OVERALL OPINION

I use my tonport since about 1 year with gearbox. podfarm I discovered recently and frankly, I am very happy and surprised sounds on offer. there is an amount sufficient consquente of his group or scratch already registered and frankly, I found a rather well made. Of course we must retoucherles presets to give a little warmth to the sound but it is done very easily and quickly. For me, it suits me well for what I did.
por the home studio, I do it again this choice without any problem and advise fFor even those who do not like me too much Myen to invest in pro gear.

- Double config that allows two channels to work upon.
- A more parmtrage end of the config from Gearbox
What I like least is the lack of mtronome (rhythm box or wav). On this one the Line 6 has totally hit the evening because it extremment prjudiciable for me who has recorded loops and therefore need to be exactly in the tempo.
Other minority bp, there are often incomplete because some effects presets are incompatible with my UX2
How do you report qualitprix?
I am a user of a Line 6 (Tone Port UX2) so it did not cost a penny but given the mtronome problem, I would hurl if I ever paybr />
Exprience with, you will do again this choice? ...
ICAR c'tait or free but I will use RPET in the pod farm but I would return to the enegistrement Gearbox. I will use pod farm if I had to run a rhythm box to be synchronized in parallel
