The TX16W is a 12bit sampler rack, the first sampler design yamaha in the 80s.
Among its characteristics:

non rsonant digital filters, envelopes, breath controller, 16 voice polyphony
chantillonnages rate: 16.7kHz / 33.3kHz / 50kHz (mono)
1.5 megabyte internal memory (expandable to 6 megabytes). With the latest Os (typhoon, you should know that the samples are compresss in memory to save space). The ram is findable in MUTEC
10 outputs
a dynamic of 72dB
thru midi in out
Eb a serial port allows connection to external storage units (note not scsi).

USE

This was my first sampler and equipped the latest Os (typhoon) programming is quite simple. Ergonomics t fully reviewed, there we now cover the foncion such as:

timestrecthle the mixing of several samplesconversion mono / stro loopXfade, etc ...

I never had the manual, but the Typhoon system, no need. There is no effect, the edition of the sounds is very simple and rapide.A note that this sampler reads the disks in Dos format and import the wav and aiff samples.

SONORITS

Sampl in 12bit is effective for drums, and time stretch algorithm stomper kind of interesting effects. The sound is less convaicant for everything synths plus synthses options are relatively not very shoots.
The filters are not rsonant, apart from a ground digital filter nickname that does not bring his big thing.
As said above the drums tappent quite dynamic level but not a standards today, you will still have to rework the Last fawn with output effects.
Note that apart from the sound characteristic 12bit and distortions that entails, the sampler has no particular grain and the curve of your sample frquence is hardly altered, so no slamming snare or kick that tappe with.

NOTICE GLOBAL

This sampler, I used my first songs, I sold since because he has nothing that can not be done on a PC.
What I like most is its ease of use as well as its edition of its options with Typhoon bones (and its cot: pay 100 in 2003).
What I like least: it provides no added value your setup in terms of sound grain (one of akai s900 has such a strong personality), lack of scsi connection, the difficult memory find her look a little sad.
