«  Pretty good machine! like a little toy! »

Read the fact sheet! Having dabbled

UTILIZATION

Roland and Akai I think the Korg ESX is pretty simple to pick up! the manual for help next week and the first roll youth!
Everything is there in having a look (almost) no need to go to extremes in sub-menu ...
-Selection of the track by pushing and crushing sound via the knobs (common share, modulation, filter): easy!
-Another good point on the LCD indicating the function of the volume pot that is spinning
Well-illuminated buttons mute and share practices for sequencing (horrible though when the sun hit it!)
-Selection of the chromatic scale for the arpeggiator (excellent record with a delay + filter!)
-Possibility of coupling of the 3 fx, very cool
etc. ..! In practice

SOUNDS

hardtek wholesale / spot hardcore or drum n bass or dub / dubstep is pretty perfect! teknoïdales for any music in general for that matter!
y 'sample of classic drum machine (808/909) and microwave for 2 classic synth parts also (saw sine square) but not that!
So everything sounds good overall especially with the 2 12AX7!
the expression of the keys is nickel .. from for 1 or 2 years!
The effects are good, some caveats however:
-Chorus / flanger used skilfully to the risk of ruining your boom!
-Grainshifter (which I love!) A little feeble in volume
-Only 2 parameters (sensitivity / attack) on the compressor
- I'm no fan of the distortion (too low in fat and not enough "devastated" for my taste) I bought my first

OVERALL OPINION

Korg esx in 2004 at a price of 999 €! and yes! So it's been quite a while that I have fun with the beast!
I bought one in 2008 (300 €: OCCAZ pure 'state nickel) because she could not bear the heavy use that I have experience doing!
I had a MC303 and a MPC 2000XL and had sounded the other models and the Roland MC RM1X Yam ...
Everything I love about this machine, well I said above! Now I'll address the negative point!

-Durability / reliability: after 1yr 1 / 2 - 2years the "hand mute has started badly for messing end up not walk at all! ditto for the keys of tracks / parts and even all the keys in general ... Yet I tried removing the bomb and application contact / dry air ...
So it's a little sore c ** to see his machine wither over the month for that price! I think Korg qq efforts to provide this level! While I dragged to moult and teufs tekos am a smoker and do not spare the beast of my smoked toxic ...

-Not enough tracks to my taste (after having dabbled in it on MPC!)

Not-for polyphonic synths

-Not enough memory (280 seconds! Arg! Qq after sampling, there will not be much!)

-Sampling a bit feeble even with the normalize (and with a 12 db PlayLv it eats all the other sounds!)

-Y 'is 2 or 3 other things that saddens me but I recall more!

So here it is, despite these flaws the Korg ESX is pretty fun and is as I said like a little toy "Easy to play" ...
big black spot thus: longevity in intensive mode (the also compared with Akai MPC in the same operating conditions, the bottom hurts!)
So pamper your electribe good guys!
