    Excellent

Installing an English version as an upgrade from my French Sibelius 5. The license key was not working, but U.S. support sent me a new key in less than an hour. Since 6.2 the bp would not occur, it is the same in any language installed, the settings chosen in config

Complex software, huge manual, default config OK.

Mastering Sibelius demand so much time, but the support forum (in English which is not a pb for me) responds quickly to any questions, either technical support (excellent, who knows the app on the fingertips ), or the user community (a lot of pro among them).

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

    Dell Latitude E6500 Core 2 Duo 2.5Ghz, 4Gb RAM.

Not a crash in 2 years. Only pb sometimes playback of a track with a player and 34d party external library of samples does not work anymore after modif the partition. Just save and reload the partition. Sibelius or external player? hard to say or is the cause of the pb.

Good performance, but loaded on partitions, we must configure the display settings (ie set up a visual quality not too far) if any modif becomes slow.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use Sibelius 5 years, expensive but very complete, very good. Nothing like a Gpro, whose sound quality and user-defined settings are limited (I gave up!). I will not hesitate to repeat the same choice

For me it was an update (I use it for 5 years)

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I do not use samples. I'm just the partition with!

    OVERALL OPINION

Bb before I published two books with Finale, and it was frankly a pain!
Finale is a software designed by graphic artists, while Bb is thought by and for musicians. The power and ease of implementation are incomparable!

I thought the transition from 6 to V.5 frankly abused ... This was an update for my case. The note was a little salty!

For those who are curious about the result, I regularly publishes partitions that I created only with Bb:

    A must for music writing

    OVERALL OPINION

since version 3. I am a musician and teacher. There are times when I use it very much. Preparation of a rehearsal, re-arrangement, preparation courses, workshops, orchestra.

Request that there be a word processor? Facilitate handling + results in printing and export + templates to go faster and can create his own. Sibelius does it all for music.

    What I like most:
+ Quick results: a clear layout
+ All functions on the keyboard + numeric keypad (very convenient transportation, hotel etc. ...)
+ Usability: we have everything on hand.
+ The ability to customize the commands, shortcuts, agreements, instruments etc. ...
+ Assistance in the preparation of courses (in English, but huge collection of documents)

    What I like least
-The seizure flexitime mode (the keyboard or the keypad: the results are very average)
"He lacks the ability to enter the music on the keyboard while typing the pulse (on a note pad, a pedal) that would go fast when there are only rounds to play and slow down when with a more complicated.
-The inability to export to other format picture or sound. No opportunity to interact with Guitar Pro or Final ...
-The functions related to sound. This is an excellent word processor. The reading is zero and so little life ...

Judgement value for money: excellent. It is a professional tool. It costs money to develop ...

In all honesty I use it on a machine that is installed Finale and Sibelius. The ergonomics of Sibelius suits me much better. The results are comparable despite differences in policies.

Sibelius 6 music notation software wasn't hard to install as I didn't have any compatibility issues or any other problems upon installation.  While there is a lot going on because there is a lot that you can do with the software, the interface of the software is pretty user friendly and it didn't take me too long to understand exactly what everything does.  The typical functions are easily located and even the harder stuff is made as easy as possible.  The manual for Sibelius 6 is pretty help and thorough and if you are new to music notation software in general I would suggest having it around.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I can't recall any times that I've had any problems running Sibelius 6.  I currently run it on a Mac Book Pro that has a 2.2 Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM, and on this machine it runs pretty flawlessly.  While it really depends on your system, Sibelius 6 doesn't take up too much processing power and I would imagine that those with less sufficient machines than the one I previously mentioned shouldn't have too many issues either, although it is hard to say until you try it yourself.  I have always been able to run as many MIDI instruments with notation as I'd like and have done as many as twenty or more at once at times.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've been using Sibelius 6 for only a short while, but I was familiar with earlier versions on Sibelius so it made the transition to this software quite easy.  There are some cool extra features in Sibelius 6 when compared to some of the other versions, but not enough that I would suggest upgrading if you are already running Sibelius 5 unless you use this program everyday.  Personally, I only use this software every once in a while because I don't deal too often with music notation.  Sibelius 6 is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to music notation software and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great piece of music notation software.
