«  A big personality »

Everything has been said many times ...
On mine, I did make some minor changes: micro caps, buttons knobs identical to the standard ... But we remain in the aesthetics ...

UTILIZATION

It is a SG with a handle dense hair, which, with knaki balls that I use fingerprints, is the top-level comfort ... Everything flies very well.
Concerning the remarks that can be read here and there on this guitar, I would bring a small personal light:
> There is a violin and a good quality fittings (gibson what ...), provided not just buy it online. Indeed, it took me a while to find mine, which is made for the body as two pieces of wood and well balanced massive (my luthier is found in terms of violin making at least equivalent to a good standard). .. Some joints were more doubtful of multiple bits (falls?) Mahogany. All this to say: this is a guitar which can be bought only after test!
> About the fragility of the finish: in absolute terms, it is clear that a stenciled finish will be more fragile than triple cel ... Nevertheless, after nearly three years, I notice that mine on the parts that wear and polish (below the neck, under the right arm ...), tends to take a beautiful finish for little we take care.
> On the matter of understanding sometimes risky: Before drilling holes for new mechanics (yuck), you must first resize and lubricate your frets, mine has become a very stable!
> On the bridge pickup (490T), at first I was tempted to replace it with a 498T ... but in fact it is one of the highlights of this guitar ... I come back in the paragraph after!

SOUNDS

I play mostly Blues, Rock, sometimes to the metal.
The guitar is in all these styles shows a presence in the mix pretty amazing. Good sound field to it, this is the crunch drooling to saturation, but it is also very capable.
The clean sounds are gibsonnniens: very thick on the serious, very warm, jazzy limit. The bridge pickup will bring more clarity, with a dose of aggression available under the right hand.
The crunch and saturated rock I do not insist you understand that this is his kingdom ...
Although this is not his field a priori, the metal will not refuse her. on the other hand, it will have its spectrum all its own, crammed with medium ... Interesting mix again.

Both pickups are very complementary. The mic handle is an old acquaintance. As for the treble, although initially I found the output level a little low, I soon discovered the following:
> Already by re-adjusting microphones, in fact the output level is not so bad
> For against what dynamics! what nuances in the right hand! On a combo tube at identical settings, the caress of a rope (arpeggios) sound very detached, clean limit, while a slightly scratched manfully agreement will shake the walls ... brief ... Happiness!

OVERALL OPINION

excellent, provided for taking the time to choose "good number", and resume the factory settings, including the damn nut cut clearly in tears.

These precautions taken, it is a wonderful tool, durable, combining versatility and big personality.

I also have a jazzmaster mexico also full of qualities, but the SG is my # 1 ...
