Should not go without me, I can not do without
Published on 01/17/11 at 13:082 photos(This content has been automatically translated from French)Copy of SG SPECIAL
1-piece mahogany neck, flat, wider than a LP but thinner, very close to the original, dark rosewood fingerboard
Mahogany body (may be several pieces but not sure), profile of Sg very well respected
2 P90 pickups (wilkinson)
2 volumes, 2 tones
WilkinsonBridge , tailpiece & tuners
3 position selector (neck pickup, bridge pickup and 2 microphones)
Asian Electronics but ... see below
Vol and tone knobs and the plastic ring of the selector are a little cheap and denote a bit with the quality of the rest of the guitar this price but we will not quibble, these are only details which do not affect the qualities and functioning of this guitar

superb colour and polish, no problem with the finish.
UTILIZATION
The neck is very nice, an SG: flat, thin but wider than a LP (I repeat myself)it's a highway with more-than-easy access to higher frets
The varnish does not stick, it's a treat!
SOUNDS
So there!
I was looking for a decent guitar I could mod to replace my original SG 63, which I sold a few years ago and quiteregret ; I saw the (crazy!)prices for this type of guitars today, I have no longer the means to afford what I could 20years ago.
So I plug the beast in my Marshall JTM 30 with a February SansAmp Tri-AC in between.
And there, smack!
beautifu lclear sounds , superb crunch and a saturation so strong you have to sometimes hold it back .
So microphones that stick perfectly to my expectations but the most surprising for a guitar made in Asia, are the very progressive potentiometers , either volume or tone, they can give fabulous sounds without touching youramp settings and it is not common for a guitar of this price.I've been practising guitar for 30 years
OVERALL OPINION
and I have owned beautiful and expensive guitars, .
Less well-off than before and since the vintage market has exploded upwards I now find myself to test and sometimes buy asian-made axes of any kind and it sometimes reveals a surprise!
My first encounter with Shumberg is due to the chance of a sale or exchange where I was offered a 335-copy which I have already written a more than positive review about , and now I'm not going to let this guitar go !
Quite naturally I opted for this SG as I said above, in order to change the pickups and electronics like the 335, but I will not!
It is just fine as it is for a cheap price but when in your hands, it is not cheap at all and what sound!
A real pleasure to try and buy, plus it has a real vintage look.See less60
