Published on 02/17/12 at 03:54Electret microphone with cardioid, according AKG is specifically designed for female voices. Why not after all .. Actually it is rather intended for small hands. Its frequency band extends from 60 to 20 kHz with what appears to be a good linearity.
OVERALL OPINION
The C as said before it has a frequency response that I find rather flat, and indeed, the natural voice (female) can be quite striking. In my professional circle many users think that this microphone is not sharp enough. For me the problem is not, in fact we are so used to the voice (too?) Brighter than we are accustomed to more natural sound. It hit me recently at a concert, once you focus on compliance with sound voice that (we like them or not at the base is another problem), it remains a C good microphone. That being said if by chance you think a little more presence would be desirable in a small console EQ 5 and 9kHz is always possible.
I think the idea of offering a stage microphone dedicated to singers and their voice is a little uninteresting. For there is no miracle mike like all others, despite a good linearity, not fit for all voices. Even if they are women ..
For noise handling on stage there's more, a Neumann KMS 105 is superior. So with that AKG avoid rockers! As I am a little crazy I also used this for her C ... male voice. And guess what? Same observations as for the (soft) female voices. And then I'm against segregation, a pretty singer with a beautiful voice will be just as beautiful to look at and pleasant to listen with another microphone, even with a "vulgar" micro "male" .. However I willingly concede that this microphone is very pretty on close-ups, in a clip or in a concert filmed! Must still look at the microphone, me Me, I prefer to watch artists .. After all each his own ..
