The Audio-Technica ATR25 is a stereo recording microphone, designed for audio recording for film and otherwise. I've only had the chance to use this microphone one time and it wasn't for film recording, which is really it's main purpose. The mic is a condenser microphone, and it's no longer being made by Audio-Technica. It's got a dual cardioid polar pick up pattern and comes with a special stereo cable, a clip, and a wind screen. It also has a frequency response ranging from 70 Hz to 18 kHz.

OVERALL OPINION

The best part of the Audio-Technica ATR25 is no doubt the cheap price! You won't find many stereo microphones for recording audio for film in this price range, as I literally don't think I've ever seen one. I should say that my focus in recording has always been on music and I don't do any sound for film or anything like that. While it's definitely a microphone that can be used in either setting, it's definitely better suited for use with a video camera, which is not something that I've used it for. The mic is going to be best used in situations where you'd like a separate microphone from your camera's, but either have no budget or want to spend as little as possible on a stereo mic. I've used the microphone only for recording some ambient sounds in a room with people talking. It actually worked great for this in tandem with a bunch of other mics in the room. Unfortunately I can't say how well it works for video, but based on my experience I think it will do a better job than most expect for the price! Good luck finding another stereo microphone under $100 US dollars. While you won't find the Audio-Techncia ATR25 new anymore, you should be able to find them even a bit cheaper on the used market.
