analog or digital depending whether MZD body mounted on a (digital) or MZX (analog)
offers two major innovations, access to the world of digital microphone by one of the best sensors on the market and technical symmetrical transducer suitable for 8000 series
it offers a capture sound with directivity "wide cardioid", ie slightly directional (between cardio and omni) with respect to the bandwidth between 30 and 50 kHz, it can collect the pressures of the order of 142 dB sensitivity 20mv/Pa
Finally, it is painted nextel paint like Schoeps Colette series and can operate between -10 and +60 degrees
OVERALL OPINION
digital microphone is one of the very best sensors on the market, the color of the microphone makes me think that a good old U89i, ie mild, with no aggression in the transition, but with a feeling incredibly dynamic and timbral sound. I already love this choice of directivity for conventional or particular I used in the past Schoeps MK21, but I find here with the solution MKH8090 MZD converter and a digital sensor still above the Schoeps.
For more information on the MZD 8090 digital versions, see my review on DMI8:
