    Fender Deluxe 90 DSP

Fender Deluxe 90 DSPPublished on 01/09/03 at 15:00
Local guitar store....I told them musiciansfriend.com had it for $400 w/ no shipping and they cut their price to $410.

An AMAZING clean channel (fender's are renowned for this). Also, because mine is the new DSP model, it has great effects. It is also LOUD. If I turn it past 2 1/2 (out of 10) the walls of my room shake.

I personally have only good experiences with this amp. In reviews I read on another board, someone said the old (non-dsp) model had a problem with the knobs breaking off.

Very good. The fat guy at the guitar store was sitting on one (the one I got was new in box, thank goodness! :-) )

    ~ Solid-state amp (I think...)
~ I have no idea of the output power, but it's more than enough to play large venues (no arenas, but certainly more than to play gigs in the bar around the corner)
~ Effects: delay, vibrato, flanger, reverb, chorus
One clean channel, one overdrive en more-overdrive, all of them are footswitchable
~ Treble, mid, bass, volume controls for clean and overdrive

    USE

This amp is quite easy to use, but you need some time to get used to it, 2-3 hours to master everything, but you don't need to be a rocket scientist.
I don't have the manual with me, so I can't tell you anything about it.

    SOUND

It's a pity I only use this amp for rehearsals.
    It's simply fabulous!!!
The effects are Wonderful (with a capital W).
The clean sound is Fender: Super crystal-clear, super neat, even if you play chords with a shitty guitar it sounds beautiful: IT'S A REAL TREAT!!!!!
The distortion sound is perfect for pop/rock. With the gain all the way up and more-overdrive engaged... Wow! I hope you have understanding neighbors, because you might tear down their walls and make them discover real Music: It's awesome!!! An incredible output power with an incredible precision: It's precisely that precision and lack of "boldness" which might scare metalheads off, but then again, Fender doesn't make amps to play metal!
I wanted to give it 125 out of 10 points, but I can't find the option... ;-)

    OVERALL OPINION

I've been using it for over two years for rehearsals, and ever since I have been saving money to be able to afford it (a dream that is soon to come true now that their price dropped 200 bucks recently).
I'm completely in love with its sound (excuse me if I'm repeating myself).
Its value for money has become almost good: €500 for an almost perfect unit. Tears are almost falling from my eyes.
In short, go for it and make some good music!!

    Peace

I use the Deluxe 90 DSP with an ESP strat or a fender telecaster or a '78 gibson LP. I really like this amp due to its clean sound, its power, its digital effects, which aren't bad at all. It's good both for rehearsal and gigs. Very good value for money.
It's not as god in crunch and drive mode, but it's not meant for that.
I now use the Line out of the 90 DSP to send it to a HOT ROD (which I got recently) and it gains a lot of punch, the sound is very good, very musical..

    USE

It's very easy to use and it's very useful.

    SOUND

This unit is great for any style: rock, blues and, especially, country.

    OVERALL OPINION

    Two years with it.

    90-watts solid-state amp!
I use it with a distortion pedal and the volume control set to 2, the output power is excellent!

    USE

The clean sound is great, warm, twangy.
The distortion sounds are a bit less good, but usable all the same.

    SOUND

It's perfect for rock blues. I think it might be good for metal, but I have never tried it out.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've been using it for about a year and count on using it for as long as I can.

For distorted sounds you need a pedal.
I play it with an sg standard and an sg junior, it's very good!
I bought it secondhand for $150, so, considering that, it's a great value for money.

90 watts, it's fine, but there's no way to adjust a decent volume to play in your room, it's either nothing or really loud.
The delays and chorus are good

    USE

Easy to dial in but it sounds cold.

    SOUND

I play a US strat, peavey, michael kelly hourglass
The (clean) sounds are average, too sharp and without warmth. The distortion is okay.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had it for 3 years and I prefer the transtube peavey (it's much warmer) or the marshall mg100 fx
