MGR/Dw « Gibson Lab Series L5 »
Published on 07/08/06 at 15:00I play as guitarist/vocalist. Though at this point I am not an active gigger anymore I still record in my home studio. I also play bas - keyboards. My musical taste is very broad, I basicly like everything except for umpapa music & muzak. I've been playing the guitar for a good twenty-five years now. Bands; WAIF, Mox and currently a small prject called DWCork.
I currently have two L5's. The first one I bought from a friend in the mid 80's for about 250 when he stopped playing and got rid of all his stuff. The second one I bought through an ad about two years ago for the same price.
The L5 is a sturdy piece of work. It has never let me down even after falling off stage it still kept going. It sounds nice and clean, has a great reverb and allows a lot of different styles. The wheels are very handy. Eq is very reasonable and the built in compressor is a nice finishing touch.
That they aren't being made anymore.
Built like a tank, nearly indestructable. In the twenty years I've been using it I only once had to replace a pair of Lamps.
Though they are difficult to come by if I can find one I won't hesitate to buy it the can be used for nearly any instrument, I have even used it for drummachines, bas & vocals. Very good price/quality.
