I was looking for an amp that was versatile enough to be used at home for practice, but also with a big enough sound and sufficient capability to be plugged into stage amps. I was looking to get an affordable 30-watt amp that would replicate the sounds of 60s-era rock/rhythm and blues. I purchased this amp from musicansfriend.com for $209.00.

This amp has a fantastic, solid mellow sound that is perfect for my Rickenbacker 330. For anyone who wants to play classic 60s-style rock, rhythm & blues, and folk rock type music -- you simply HAVE to hear this amp. It is unreal. Although it's all solid state, you could never guess it from the way it replicates the sound of a tube amp. The spring reverb jangles exactly like the old amps too. The blue lighting on the control panel is not just a gimmick, by the way. It really provides a good visual aid.



The lead channel provides a nice distortion when set low, but I find it too harsh for my liking at higher settings.

Mine is a 30-watt model (you can also get it from H&K in 15-watt). It has 2 channels (clean and lead), 3-band EQ, a 10" Jenson speaker, effects loop, reverb control, CD-input, line-in and line-out jacks.

Don't be fooled by the low price -- most amps this cheap sound cheap. This one doesn't! I suspect it's got a lower price only because it's assembled in South Korea -- not Germany like Hughes and Kettner's other models. For all of you young people like me that doesn't happen to have an old Vox or Fender tube amp in the attic, this amp is definitely worth double the price and more.

We have here a little while transistor amplifier 30watts, 10''jensen hp, 2 cananaux separated.
-2 Channels clean, lead.
-Equalizer 3-band, bass, mid, treble.
-Master (master volume).
-Reverb.
CD-input, footswitch input, headphone output.

UTILIZATION

Configuration is very simple, we choose the channel (clean, lead) and then adjusts the sound a commitment to the Equalities three bands, the reverb or gain.
The sound is very realistic, very expressive, you can get a range of sounds from crystal clear sounds clear as to the large distortion, to a bluesy sound or a warm overdrive to the AC / DC.
An amp that really fits all styles of guitar players of all levels investisement a really good amp for a bedroom.

SOUNDS

The sound is very successful, very expressive person I play metal of all kinds and ensures even with tunings "detuned", the sound is really beautiful on clear, crystalline, limpid, precise one would play on a Fender amp; all with a transistor amp.
I use it with an Epiphone g-400 and is nickel; nothing wrong side sounds.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for about 2 years and have always been satisfied.
It is really convenient because of its lightness, simplicity and reliability, an amp that can be relied on, and during a composition with his group, for example, portable, discreet, precise working tool really useful for the cost .
A small amp really amazing in retrospect I think I rachaiterai.
I takes only 9 in overall rating because nothing has perfect even if it is far from perfect, really need an amp !!!!!

UTILIZATION

SOUNDS

It is exceptional !!!!!!!!!!!!

The clean sound is amazing clarity, punch and definition. It's like being almost on a Twin Reverb (with less "safe" and power of course)! But with (this is only my opinion) a less aggressive side while maintaining a superb shine. This is a great advantage for me because we just push the volume without tiring the listener.
No need to push down to get the full potential ...
You can also get a slightly crunch on the clean channel. We arrive safely in a sound with a good SRV Stratocaster (I use a Telecaster).
Just needs a little heat and it would be perfect!

For cons, I'm booked on overdrive channel. Playing more particularly the rock genre Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin, I do not find that you get a vintage sound. Whatever EQ setting out the results we get a drink. It is better to boost the gain of the clean channel to get a great crunch!
But for all the sounds of modern distortion, no problem, it ensures proper ...
One can easily tripper Hard Rock or Metal genre Rammstein, Metallica, etc. ...
All this with a good definition and good potatoes.

+ The reverb is correct. Very good when used in reasonable proportions.

If I is 9, not 10, it is only because the channel can not overdrive at the channel clear. But it is exceptional for the price and features of the machine!

OVERALL OPINION

To summarize this amp, two words: a BOMB!!

This amp Fender managed to surpass its field of choice: clean sounds.
And he comes flying colors. At the risk of offending some purists, I can compare it to a Twin Reverb or similar recent dismantling without me! (I repeat myself - except on the power and the "trunk")
Like I said previously, there are all the characteristics of Fender amps. Ie heat, precision, definition, brightness and potatoes! Without the "excessive shine" a lot of Fender. To compare it with the equivalent of Fender products in terms of prices (Frontman 25R Frontman 65R) there's no pictures, Hughes & Kettner is much higher.
For a game distortion, we find the H & K features with its fit-in but not suitable for a rock "vintage". But otherwise, should be no problem for modern sounds.
My only complaint is a small lack of heat on boosted channel, but nothing serious.
In addition, the effectiveness of equalization that can radically change the color of sound.

To conclude:

Probably the best amp in this price range. Simply amazing and fantastic clear sound. It would almost be taken for SRV or Tony Joe White!

Also largely a clear high-end Fender with the distortion typical of HK.
It's like really on a tube amp (except for distortion). One might ask where they are stashed!

Unbeatable value for money. Competition can not to the level in the clear ...
Too bad the distortion channel is not on the pitch clear.

for sounds, I'm very happy, there is a beautiful palette. but it's just an hour that I tried.
I have a great amp (hi watt) of the 60s, of course incomparable, when we want to talk crystalline sounds something else but it weighs a tone and I wanted an amp not too bad to carry around easily. I read the posts here and I am confident. I must say that I saw this one on e bay for 70 euros, it helps to make a choice ... I tried a Micro Cube that I found very good. he sells secondhand next 50 euros but I really prefer that one. He has a great sound blueasy, a beautiful sustain even low volume and light is not bad. I think that the pummeling you can really have a lot of sounds.
30w it's really good spell. nothing to do with the micro cube, making it a good little amp for playing at home but not that much. I can not wait to try it with the electric mandolin. voila, I did not have much basis for comparison except for a 40w amp gem in the 70s, a stew of Peavy and I really enjoyed it all.
