    Crate GX900H Head

    Crate GX900HPublished on 12/04/03 at 15:00
I was lent this amp for several weeks while the store fixed the mess they made getting my amp.

Uhhmmm...I got rid of it... that's what I liked. I guess at low level volume, it's channels sounded pretty good.

It's huge. It's ugly. I had to practive with it at MAX volume, and it didn't sound "pretty good" then.

It's good quality. I am a big Crate fan, and I believe most of their products are solid and well designed.

The problem with this amp is that in the showroom it sounds good because you can't crank it well. A far better buy would be to dish out forty dollars more and get a glx1200h head. Then you have 30% more power and newer updated sounds. Or spend half as much and get a used gfx1…

Then you have 30% more power and newer updated sounds. Or spend half as much and get a used gfx1200h. With both of these alternatative options you get effects that aren't on the gx900h. Bottom line, definatly not worth 400 dollars.

    Crate GX 900

    Crate GX900HPublished on 06/15/03 at 15:00
i bought it for $400 at a guitar center, i didnt want to spend too much for a head because i was still buying a cab

i like clean channel and the metal distortion

really, i kind of regret buying this amo because #1 the distortion doesnt get too crunchy and #2 all 3 channels sound like crap when played at high levels. this amp would be alright if you have a PA and mic the amp when it's on a lower volume

the construction and quality is pretty good

really, this amp is an ok practice amp or a small backyard show, but i wouldn't recomend this to anyone that plays gigs or bigger shows.
