i was in long and mc quade picking up my new but very used laney 1x12 50 watt combo when i saw this head unit surrounded by mesa's and marshall's, i have owned marshall's but never mesa's and never a peavey head, but i like peavey, i always have, i originally wanted 1 or 2 bandit 1x12's but they didn't have any, so the next day i went back and handed over the laney and said give me my xxl, i tried it out and holy hell this thing rocked harder than any marshall i have ever tried, the xxl is mine now. i got it used but like new for 480.00 candian.

nothing except for the foot pedal button's are way too close for shoes. otherwise i love it!!!!!!

awesome i hope it last's me forever.

peavey i knew i could count on you, you've never let me down in the past, i hope you never do in the future. this amp rocks stupid crazy awesome.!!!!

Peavey XXL 100 Watt Transtube Amp Head

i bought this over at alamo music center in san antonio, tx for about 1200 dollars.
I had been shopping around for a halfstack in several gear stores. i tried out a marshall, crate, randall, and this peavey.
i liked the way they all sounded, the xxl sounds very good, and for the asking price, i took it over the marshall.i got it with a peavey 4X12 rms cab, 300 watt capability. i was looking at spending almost two thousand for a marshall.

great tone, bright, and warm clean. gets warmer the louder it gets. it has 3 gain channels, ulta, modern, crunch, then u got ur lead with the modern, classic, and brittish tones. it has a dampening switch, tight, medium, loose, lets u choose output watta…

and for a solid state, it sounds kickass. dont let someone tell you that a solid state isnt an option. solid states are a good investment, especially since tubes can break and blow out.

i havent really found anything wrong with it. the foot pedal is kinda small, but youll get used to it.

construction is excellent, its got a metal face, and cardboard back very solid. as for quality i think its great for those of us that cant cough up 2 - 3 grand for a marshall or mesa.

for 1200 dollars, this stack gave me my money's worth. you dont have to have a marshall to have a great tone, shop around look at the peavey's, peavey makes great amps, you have to hear it for yourself.

I bought this blessing at AJ's Music (greatest shop around)for about 600 bucks. I bought it with the 5150 slant cabinet for 1200 total. I bought it for a more powerful better sounding amp then what i currently had.

I love the Ultra channel especially the modern setting. Also the clean channel sparkles like no other! THe reverb is phenomenal and gives me chills everytime i turn it up. THis head also looks incredible. The best looking head ive seen around. Another phenomenon on this amp is the 25,50,100 watt switch. you can choose the amount of power your using. The dampening is amazing also. Set it on loose and you got yourself marshall tone. Set the bad boy to tyte, and wow A MESA! …

The only small complaint is the footswitch. Its to small. But HELL! IT WORKS! and its worth the small trouble because of the beautiful tone of the amp.

This amp is well built. The metal on the front protecting your good stuff inside. chrome knobs. BEAUTIFUL CONSTRUCTION.

Amazing Tone. Amazing Price. Amazing Looks. Amazing Quality. What can i say!? its AMAZING!

A mail order for the transistor can still be around € 1000. Compared head Marshall DSL 100 is a € 1200/1300 and there c ets lights at all. My advice: buy a Marshall or Ultra Plus head of OCCAZ and graft it to a distortion pedal or a POD for heavy metal sound. Ets But it very well still see a demand as required.

    A single input jack
There are two outputs for connecting to a stack stereo or mono when stacks of 2 (8 * 12 inches was crazy believe me)
Between a power amp to push even harder
Prampli output for making direct sound
A MIDI footswitch for the (supplied) to activate the effects loop and switch from one channel to another
Rgler a button to power the effects loop (2 positions)
And of course the effects loop with send and return.
    Brief all good

    UTILIZATION

Operation is intuitive with a trs slecteur which allows for three types of sound per channel and the usual buttons brief the door of a 2 year old.
For its part it and immediately it sounds as clear as saturates it's all good.
The manual does not exist ca stands on 5 pages but there is no need not at all serious.

    SOUNDS

I use this amp for 8 months and not once I dcu t be it jazz (cort LCS2) or rock (the epiphone dot) and mtal well nag (guitar is personal emg rulez).

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 8 months and therefore of happiness, I have not found any significant default (even the price is not one).
Before I try to buy a Marshall VS100 and pictures are not bcp more effort so the peavey was impossible even to him.
RAPORT quality issue price plus the head stack XXL 412 js I had mono for a little over 1100 so cheap as to your exact once you play it.
A remake I choose the same choice but I will soon buy a classic 50 head for jazz because even if the lamp is trs simulation convincing my taste for jazz so if it is not enough you do not play jazz you will not have an excuse to spend a cot of this jewel.
PS: I'm not working with peavey

Ultra (red LED): Volume / Edge / Body / Bottom / Gain (active EQ!) + Switch: Crunch / Modern / Ultra

    UTILIZATION

Personally I find great, easy to use not even need instructions!
One has only to turn the knobs!
Easy to connect, you choose the output impedance (64/8/16 omh) depending on your speaker and away you go!
The footswitch is nice enough, maybe not strong enough but it is a system of metal and not switch to pedal so I find it more accurate!

    SOUNDS

It is suitable for all types of music, it is super versatile at that level ...
In total you have 3 Channel with 3 modes CHANNELS by making a total of 9 sound ...
    1) The clean is very nice I use it in vintage fashion because I think it is the most crystalline, the other two are warmer and less precise.
    2) I do not use much of the Lead, but do not forget even when I like to use to make me british blues improvisation, and mode High gain comes a big strong crunch ...
The classic for me is not enough saturated
    3) Finally we arrive at the most important, the main channel! And yes channel Ultra ... This is the most distorted and it may well come out of his worshipers that will appeal to large metal ...
Personally I use the most modern fashion because the sound is more serious is heavier, correct style ... The ultra is very special, I do not worship too. And the Crunch is exellent to play a small Higway to hell! : D

I added a Boss EQ pedal to GE-7 to go further in the equalization and frankly I This now sounds huge! I will make some samples later!
If you want a big fat metal sound I suggest you put the bass to 3 / 4 see, the treble a little more than half the midle and at least half, you will have dug a big fat sound ...

Nothing to say about the reverb, it is nice and it is always better than nothing.

    OVERALL OPINION

    + Versatility
    + Huge Power
    + FX loop effective
    + Footswitch well made

    - Becomes worse at high volume
Here, I use it for almost eight months on a 4 * 12 cabinet marshall 1960A and to my room I found my big its my dream! But it's not perfect yet, but to repeat everything comes to those who wait: D. ..
Very good amp to get the hand with a stack and have a good power!
    Wait and See!

No worries, it's still classic and effective. We do not just find rglages correct, but it takes a finger at the level of legalization and damping that colors really sound.

    Versatile dj this level l.
There have been good thanks to the easy sounds Varis channel modes.

The manual? Aaaah you talk srement 5 sheets of photocopies (attention, photocopying 'color!) Aggraphes loose in the box? Uh ... We can manage without.

Trs trs big plus for his button footswitch that allows you to disable the effects loop! Just great!

    SOUNDS

My style of music ... he asks a lot of gain and precision! Well the XXL gives me both!
Trs good amp for all the music "heavy" or "hard". It's gonna rock 60 'in heavy 80' grindcore or metalcore to 00 '! Trs made good overdrive or saturation. The clean crunch well (by increasing the volume of the channel, which also serves as a gain).

However, from the time he was asked to heat ... it gets stuck. They might try to get closer to the lamps made of an amplifier, we are still far trs. It sounds good in saturax, the treble does not fuse too, the mediums are apparent and bass are not slobbering. This is the clean sound is a bit bland I got. As against a skyscraper in EMG, you will have a clear "the Metallica", which in itself is plutt sympatoche: D.

Nevertheless, the versatility of this head is great trs, we can discuss styles normment DIFFERENT! This is also why I took it ...

I particulirement the Lead channel, which allows itself to address normment sound! From rock to trash!
The Ultra channel has more gain (ah bin ... it's the channel of the big nag!), A "modern" has dug its way too hard ... paramtrer no top ... but I have a russi his "Pantera's" in this mode, so in fact it has its usefulness!

The head has a sound, it's characters ... we feel good when we play. Rac powerful and it feels great especially in saturation (high gain lead and ultra-ultra). It sticks trs well with characters of my KH 602, also special! I have a truly unique sound with my config ... never heard that elsewhere ... dcrire difficult. There's a ... "Something": D

Just find the right rglages (scratching, amp and pedals or rack = increasing equalizers) rveiller to the best of each channel!

Little breath for a transistor amp, even gain back ... trs trs apprciable! At worst you moves away from sources of interference (clicks, NONS, Cables low-end, etc.. Rptera we do often enough!).

The reverb is certainly numrique but trs good quality!

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had a week and I'm screaming in all directions to see what he has in the noggin!

I can qu'apprcier versatility ... switch to kick on the footswitch of the Led Zep one killer distortion of Pantera or Slayer ... It's been fun!

I tried many amps before you fall for the head XXL (ValveKing combo, engl sovereign, etc.).. I really wanted to beginners amp lamps with two HP (combo or head + cabinet) ... I thought at the Randall RG50, tried to find 5150, ENGL Screamer ... the argument t is the price (500 XXL + marshall 1922 head on occasion!). I can only recommend this amp for those who want power, versatility and a first step into the world of amp heads.

Report qualitprix? ... It is good. However, some new CHRE all of the same! But on occasion (when it is: it is not trsrpandue ... shame!) It is doing extremely well! That already have good reputable Peavey Bandit, the XXL as it is expected to outstrip even better!

I think I have a 2x12 cabinet deuxime for a rig in Stereo (useful for broadcasting sound !!!).

CASC have as much versatility and opportunity in this price range is trs apprciable ... especially since its widely enough to 100W rpter and make scne. She spits the nasty
Be careful not to play too hard either ... the acouphnes! Always acouphnes! Being protected your ears and your entourage;) that either we do not often enough BPS!

Each channel has a passive 3-band EQ on the Clean and Crunch and active in the Lead and a preamp output volume of individual and Crunch and Lead channels have a gain.

To top it off, there is a section comprising a master volume and reverb.

The 3-button footswitch lets you toggle the provided 3 channels and engage the effects loop, very practical and functional.

[10] very complete equipment for the price we ask.

    UTILIZATION

Very simple configuration, switches modes on offer realistic 3-channel diversity, the manual can be pushed a little further knowledge of the head but is not essential, in 10 minutes everything was understood.

[9] Almost perfect, the active EQ on Lead channel rout a bit but we made it quickly when we seek his sound to the ear rather than sight.

    SOUNDS

It is always difficult to be objective about his equipment, I play metal / heavy metal head and this suits me. I plug it into a cab Yamaha 4x12 "Celestion V30 and I have a mahogany guitar with microphone and active interaction between all this little world is pretty good:

-Clean: not a fighter on that channel, whatever the method chosen, the clean is right, not blur remains constant and dynamic, it's good enough for me because it really is neutral and allows easy use of effects . Perfect for what I play.

-Crunch: I do not use near, the sound is very medium, british high-gain into a corner, flattering and still usable.

-Lead: my favorites, I put in "modern" gain, mids are dug, the gain goes, I do not put up at 6-7, active equalization can give a lot of dynamics. The sound is very distinctive, the head is making its mark but this type of grain cold Californian transos I like.

[8] Very good leader, the rest is a little behind for the use that I did and it lacks a bit of adjusting amplitude level of EQ.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had it 8 months, I am very happy, he takes the road well. I did several tests, it appears that it is better to use the position to enjoy 100W of maximum dynamic head.

I got it secondhand and I find it really good for the price, one of the very best minds transistors in comparison with what I've tested so far (Marshmal MG, Hughes & Kekette ...). I do not regret my purchase, it's been a really good amp for small gigs and repeat.

[9] Head very consistent in its overall damage it does to do more!
