RTZ Professional Audio's 9762 is a dual channel mic pre amplifier. The unit is an analog one that is solid state based and has XLR inputs and output in the back as well as 1/4 inch outputs and on the front there are 1/4 inch inputs for each channel. This is indeed a rackable piece of gear that will only take up a single space.
UTILIZATION
The make up of the RTZ Professional Audio 9762 is fairly easy to understand as the configuration isn't complex. Each of the channels has knobs for level and gain as well as buttons for +48v phantom power, lo-z, polarity, and DI to use the 1/4 inch input in the front. It also has metering for the overall output level. I haven't seen a manual for this unit so I can't say anything about it, but if you are familiar with mic pres you definitely don't need it.
SOUND QUALITY
I'm a big fan of the way that the RTZ Professional Audio 9762 sounds as it gives you a clear picture of the signal you are sending to it whether it be a microphone or by direct input. It will reproduce the sound cleanly and accurately without adding any of its own sounds to it. While I would say that it does have its own character to it, for the most part I see the 9762 as a very clean mic preamp. It is great having two identical channels in the same box as it is perfect for capturing a stereo pair or use each channel individually. I'd recommend using it on all sorts of instruments and voices as this is a versatile enough pre to handle just about any applications.
OVERALL OPINION
RTZ Professional Audio's 9762 stereo mic pre is definitely a professional piece of equipment. It is built well and has an overall killer sound quality that can be used in all sorts of situations. I would recommend it for home studio owners looking for a dependable set of mic pres to record with, even though this is probably a bit out of the normal price range for a home studio. I would also recommend it for any professional looking to expand their mic pre collection in any way. The 9762 is definitely a stereo mic pre worth looking into...
