Ibanez AT300 Andy Timmons Signature

The AT300 is the epitome of that Andy Timmons sound. For those who don't know, Andy Timmons has been a fairly long time user of Ibanez guitars, and he has a few models out there. Out of all of them, this is probably the closest so his current sound. The guitar is based off of the SA body style and features a mahogany body, maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, 22 frets with jumbo frets, unique inlays, HSS configuration with DiMarzio pickups, Wilkinson tremolo, two volumes, one tone and a five way switch.

UTILIZATION

The guitar felt great. The fretwork on this was top notch, and the only Ibanez guitars out there with better fretwork are the J-Custom series. They were properly leveled, has a nice crown going on and were beveled nicely so they don't cut your hand while moving up and down the neck. The inlay work on this was pretty good, too. There were a few filler areas, but it wasn't bad overall. The nut was properly cut to make sure that the strings glide nicely when using the tremolo. The tremolo on this is the Wilkinson, and it felt very smooth. Very good trem. The guitar felt perfect in terms of weight. If I had to guess, I'd say it was around the 7 lb area. The AANJ made it super easy for soloing, too. The only real complaint I had was that the volume knob was real close to the bridge pickup.

SOUNDS

This guitar is the epitome of fat tone. The AT1 in the bridge is super fat sounding, and combined with the mahogany body, you get this super warm tone going on. To be honest, if you use the tone control on the bridge, it'll just muddy it out like crazy, it's that thick. It works awesome for those lead lines. The Cruisers in the neck and middle give this awesome vowely kind of P90 sound. They sound super authentic for being single coil sized humbuckers. DiMarzio did a great job with those. The clean tones on the Cruisers shimmer nicely, and the lead tones are simply to die for.

OVERALL OPINION

This is my favorite model out of the entire AT series. It's the fattest sounding, has the best features and doesn't require any pickup swap. If you're looking for one of these, check out eBay to get the best prices. As long as the frets aren't too worn, you should be good to go. You'll save tons of money, too.

Today we will talk about a (almost) old lady! The famous Ibanez signing Andy drawbars, I was looking for a long time, finally fell in my hands after a looooong trip!

To begin with, there are several models môssieur signature:
- AT 200: same model, but with less caracs (I think this product)
- AT 300: one we will talk (this product, stop 2007)
- AT 100: original model with the plate and maple neck (two editions, a late 90's (model 99 ultra sought by fans) and reprints of some 3,000 bales today ...)
Andy uses mainly AT100, AT300 and sometimes (the 100 has a much clearer sound very Brighty while the 300 sounds good fat). All that to say that no, you do not sound an alarm as the Master even if you scratch in the same hands. This requires ca mesas (lonestar special stiletto stereo, bb preamp and full effects) and especially his fingers are experience blablabla ...

Good clarification made, you can go! Model made in Japan, well finished (after 6 years I do not see fault!), Very similar to the series Sabres and well designed. Mahogany is felt (as on the shoulders in the ears), and the set is excellent pickups (bridge Cruiser and di marzio custom at1) despite a very low output signal (compared to my other guitars ca not send the all, I have all my settings rempenser!), all controlled by two volumes (bridge and single) plus a tone (reactive!) and a 5-way switch (I would have liked a little more accessible, it is behind one volume knob take the shot). Point that I did not enjoy the Wilkinson vibrato: a strat can type with one hand and vintage "hulk" I have not hooked to the touch (bar too thin, too "hard" for me, I 'm too accustomed to Wilkinson petrucci). Strong mechanical wraps, ca is great on this side of the RAS.

The handle end is kind of like my RG (phew!), ca is very close to a strat! I also found narrower (as less illusion ends?) and really boooo, the oysters are nice! The 22 boxes are adequate and easily accessible ...


It is well made (made in Japan), well equipped and most well designed, everything is consistent ... I put 8 (one remains in a range of mid-priced, this could be better but the budget explode!)

UTILIZATION

The handle ... Surprisingly, not like the ones I know from Ibanez, it is very pleasant to the touch! this is a good point, I was afraid of this part. It feels good top and bottom!

Ergonomics impeccable, ca plays superbly standing as seated balanced guitar that does not sting the nose, forearm does not suffer (thank you SA form!) ... nothing to complain!

Without access to acute bp ca remains an ibanez!

RAS the above, I put 9 because it is a pleasure to play, despite a vicious weight (it looks like not seeing my back but sometimes after a protest Repette full upright!)

SOUNDS

Interesting chapter! I play direct sound (AVALON U5 DI box with some pedals, or a caiman Laboga (tested also on Fender all-tube). I play funk, jazz funk (herbie hancock), blues, rock and small of hard.

We will lens in fat, without going into the aggressive (hair metal fans, go your way!)

In clean is booooo! The bridge without being garish bites (rare), the handle has only typical strat sound, intermediate positions come straight baccarat! It was a kind of strat but with a more bold, more hot ... it's really interesting!

With a little crunch (or BB preamp gain low on lamps), claps (U.S. strat deluxe made my mouth in his case). They are always very clear, but with a little fat around that bubble ... this is superb

In saturax, do not abuse it! No prob for rock, hard metal, but I have not even tried! Mic bridge biting well, we sound a bit thick, warm, very musical. I am not using the three intermediate positions, and finally the handle: very good answer, not its honeycomb solos keep coming, we feel like stopping! I really enjoys playing, and unlike my other guitars, I use a lot of knobs that modulate its really as I want!

Note the very good sustain, I was not familiar with either Ibanez!

In short, the concept of this guitar is very good. It is the idea of ​​the sound of Andy, sounds a bit fat strat that I like!

9, perfection does not exist, but beyond the sound quality, it is the spirit of the guitar that I love! It does not send the wood, so we can work on her more thoroughly, and the result is better (I now struggling to play anything, even musicman petrucci I loved taking dust. ..)

Two months ago, the beginning of a long story: D

I played a lot of guitars, I had the chance to pay me owls, but this one is special ... Bought without trying, j'la wanted!! No stupid pink cloud, no thunderbolt ridiculous, but just a respect for the spirit of this guitar ... I'm not disappointed!

UTILIZATION

Ahhh what the handle shaft is in a beautiful pice of relatively large but trs enjoyable, if not even for little hands, the frets are jumbo, a smooth incroyable.l 'Access in acute bein the ibanez is so good trs, trs good finish with a beautiful transparent varnish.
