UTILIZATION
250th paid for a guitar, the neck is nice enough, thin enough (I do not know if this is typical of Jackson?).

The weight is correct, the guitar is relatively well balanced. Access to treble is fairly "easy" due to the form.
Black Point still quite high: there are a lot of places where this frieze ... And that's quite stressful!
SOUNDS
I bought the skyscraper in the context of play Metal, Rock and others, it's overall style which it is intended.
BUT, and this is a big but, the pickups sound very origins of cheap ... So in full, provided the amplifier is correct and / or distortion pedal takes the road, it passes. However its clear he does not expect wonders!
Overall, in clean or distortion sound is very confusing, you always feel like a veil filthy.
That said it's good enough to start.
After a few years I changed the pickups for Gibson 496R and 500T (I got the new 2 for $ 100, it's still honest), roughly the same as Explorer / Flying V (being a fan of these scratch).
Here, the sound changes completely EVERYTHING! The violin is entry level but at last we can have a very respectable one, either in clean or saturated. Exit the veil filthy, we take pleasure in playing.
I started playing on a Hughes & Kettner Attax 50 (a 50W transistor entry / mid-range), and with new pickups it sounded well. I then purchased a Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 (which I changed the HP, cf. Dedicated topic on the forum), and then became the sound is terrible in the clear.
Regarding the note I put 4 / 5 of 10 original, but it deserves a good 6 if we take the trouble to buy new microphones (be careful not to ruin either, it would be a shame to 'to have more expensive microphones as scratches).
OVERALL OPINION
Purchased in 2002, I have played for 2 years after the purchase, then between 2004 / 2007 I have not really touched the instrument (study, study!)
As for the models tested, not much before that: in any case I did not really gold coins so I tried similar models (entry level Yamaha Pacifica, and some brands that I do even remember). What I decided to take it over another was mainly the "form factor" must be said that it has the "face Jackson" I like well.
As for the negatives, as quoted above:
- Frieze that in many places, no matter what you do;
- The original pickups are really cheap.
Now we have to stay on:
- The quality / price ratio is honest;
- The design is nice;
- The handle is quite nice.
With experience, I would turn instead to another model, counting the new pickups, the guitar came back to something like the 320th, for that price I'd try more of Ibanez or Yam. That said I do not regret my purchase!
If you need to buy a "home" and used "I think it's not worth more than 50 / 70th! In any case I would not buy it more expensive ...
