USE

This guitar is not A guitar !!! That's TWO guitars ONE !!!!!! : P
Indeed, double, microphones deliver a fat sound, excellent for hot jazz, blues (sleeve) and metal (bridge), once the push pull pulls it becomes a Stratocaster style guitar, with crystal clear sound, slamming, funky !!!
I testee in middle position with the selector microphones in splits with an acoustic simulator (Korg AX1500G) and I was literally bluff by the sound delivered !! I then plug a yamaha and bc for even if it was not the effect ... bah !! it's Lag! : D

on the other hand I admit it hard to understand why Lag has EMG HZ-4 handle and HZ-3 in the bridge ... it's like putting an EMG 81 (splittable) handle and 89 easel ... weird ..
ca finally have mainly increase the versatility of the guitar, the limit, I may be a gift microphones .. but the guitar remains very comfortable in the supersaturated sounds!

I prefer this guitar is versatility, which I regret is the placement of microphones (with a little elbow grease everything works out ^^)
I tried the BC Rich (average except in large saturations and again ... it's mostly guitars of "scene"), Ibanez (I remember the name but it was in the same price range) and frankly Lag AF200 sprayed them all !!! The seller even told me that this guitar was a better sound than some of his Ibanez 1000 !!!

the limit I see some guitars able to compete:
-The SD Whales (in the same range, with Seymour Duncan pickups, a through handle and a push-pull)
-the LTD model 400 (more dear, but less versatile with active EMG, excellent violin and a handle approaching driver handle)
-The Jackson DKMG (concurrent model of LTD 400, but EMG passive and not super versatile)

it is among the best guitars of its price range, I think it deserves its widely 9 (I do not put 10 because perfection does not exist: D)
With hindsight, it is on a wait even for 5 months I would do the choice ^^ (well I exaggerated a bit anyway: P)

PS: yes, I almost forgot, deliveries of long delays are super !!! I had command late December and I received in early May .. lol a little over 5 months late, now I have it and I will not quit !!! ^^

UTILIZATION

SOUNDS

I bought it at a time when I listened to a lot of metal music, but my tastes have changed and I like more rock, blues, jazz, hard rock to the limit but most of all metal. Thus it does not suit me at all. The crunch is horrible on this guitar. But it was good for my debut. Its sound and obviously the pickups are too oriented metal I think. I played early on a Line 6 and I went on a Vox AC15 ... The symbiosis is not very good I think.
Regarding mics is very strange ... The top has a potato monster while the lower leaves to be desired. The middle one is a little better but still lacking for my taste. The highs are very showy and bass are discrete if it is not on the top of the microwave.
Then I would say that the sound quality is degraded very quickly (within 2 years). Firstly, the floyd is mess, I do not yet played like a nag and with my stringed sitar sound are very unpleasant (especially small to mid). and the G string always sounds wrong for some reason unknown to me. The settings are ok, even harmonics.
Settings on this guitar floyd drove me nuts! So much so that I asked someone to make me.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for three years now and I have only one desire, to get rid of. I can not stand his sounds. I loved the clean and distortion once that was pretty good I find, beautiful even on the micro top.

UTILIZATION

The handle is very comfortable and access to treble is very easy. And 24 cases, it's always handy
Compared to my LTD Viper 400, it is much lighter and very well balanced.
We obtain easily a good sound with the 3 pickups and 5 position selector microphones.

SOUNDS

Always compared to my LTD is active, the Lag has a warmer, more rounded but less accurate (but do not ask too much for a passive costing € 150 less). I use it for concerts typed Rock / Hard Rock. For metal, with a good amp sound is really good.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 5 years and is still flawless like new!
I have tried a lot of models before and for the price it is more than correct!
I love his face. It stands out well against the Ibanez through small details.
What I like least is the Floyd. Why? Only because I did not need. I bought it to use it but ultimately it's not my style of play so I have never tested properly to give you good advice.

I use it to play metal (in the broadest sense) and I sometimes switch to a component in some clear, so the guitar c'tait idalie. Compared to mh 400 and S 470 for Ibanez (the other two for which I hsit before buying it) I much prefer.
I find it beautiful but trs is subjective.

I put 8 because the selector is not ergonomic, it is almost impossible to find it gone all the way down, even with the guitar playing high.

I use it since September 2006, I had left out because the electronics were so rotten (background noise, ground noise etc ...) I had no desire to play with. Okay so for sound I find it excellent suited to my style of music, both the EMG mtalleu gives me a good and well for the fat distortion bridge pickup sound clear and crystalline neck pickup. The micro EMG-HZ S3 simple really trs a good sound was perfectly clear is the impression one has a lil chorus when playing: D so that the cot is really cool . Added 30/09: took a little longer I use this guitar and I am still as satisfied. However, I reversed the neck and bridge pickups and the sound is more powerful prcis and with the bridge and H4A sound distortion is less rough to the handle with the fh3a.Je would also say that I had a problem with my slcteur microphones, he d screwed and I had to scratch open the rgler this problem (not important but I wanted to prciser) I think all of the same switch to EMG active within short time but I RPET these mics (the hz) are good for me trs any style of music (by inverting it promotes sound more hard) and produce little trs grsillements with my stuff .. .

What I like about this guitar is the stthique, it is really beautiful with the table and I Flamm Saddle prfre true that in the picture is darker . I use this guitar for beginners in July 2006, and I was lucky because the Lag AF200 had just arrived to be placed in storage, a fact that I got in a week.

I prfre in the scratches, that's the beauty of the table and sound. What I like least? I would say that Floyd has the jumpers a bit too sharp: when I used many strings break often enough ... Otherwise no further problem since I spent two hours sanding with sandpaper to watch ^ _ ^ '

And I changed the 2 hambucker room and the sound is better for metal tones, the bridge is more powerful but the handle is just as well for clean sounds.

DCID before I order it I tried a lot of metal guitar, the one that was for me the best qualitprix: for that price it was a nice guitar with good pickups and good versatility (even if I was looking at a guitar dpart mtalleux but said that metalheads n'tait not eclectic?).

In the end I advise you if you find a metal Gratt. But try it before! Finally, if you can ...

Notes: I had never saw such a bolt-on neck system but it seems to be reliable. Exceptional manufacturing quality, even better than the famous MH 400. The money you save on active pickups you pay for the high-quality finish.

Update from 01/18/2007: when I received it the tremolo was not properly adjusted (to high and not perfectly straight) and the guitar was not tuned. It's not serious but I had to mention it. Due to this I would give it only a 9.5 but it's impossible, it still gets a 10.

Update from 03/16/2009: I had to tighten the toggle switch, which was a bit worn. The ergonomic shape of this toggle switch is very thought out but it must be tightened after a while.

I decrease its grade to 9 because of this.

UTILIZATION

The neck is a bit thicker than that of the MH 400 but very pleasant. The hand slides smoothly along it and it's very comfortable. It's an excellent neck and even though I'm used to slimmer necks I got used to it in 30 seconds. Perfect.

Excellent access to the upper frets. You'll easily reach the last frets but it's a bit less comfortable than a body-through neck because of the heel.

This guitar feels extremely comfortable. It's the most ergonomic guitar I've ever played to this day. It's very light considering it's made out of mahogany, and the body shape is perfect. Perfect.

You'll easily find your own sound with the passive EMG HZ pickups. I haven't tested the push/pull system. I won't say anything else about sound because I believe it's the amp that influences the sound more.

Update from 01/18: even though you can feel the effect of the push/pull system with distortion, it's much more evident with clean sounds. The Floyd Rose tremolo is excellent and it stays in tune.

Update from 03/16/2009: I've owned the guitar for over two years and I find the Floyd Rose tremolo is great. The guitar always stays in tune even after the tremolo sprang out this one time I dropped the guitar. Sturdy and effective: very good gear!

I'll increase the mark again to 10/10.

SOUNDS

I play mainly heavy metal, from early Black Sabbath to modern black metal but also thrash metal (mainly Slayer) and death metal (Carcass and Morbid Angel for example). I plan to install an EMG81 on the bridge and a 85 on the neck (I love how these pickups sound). I'll replace the middle single coil later (with an active EMG single coil or a Seymour Duncan). But even with the passive HZ pickups this guitar is amazing for my music style! Apparently the push/pull system ought to provide a Fender Strat-like sound. I haven't tested it yet but if it's true this guitar will have a huge versatility. The HSH configuration alone provides me more sound possibilities than I expected.

I tested it with a Mesa Single Rectifier. I'm not a fan of this amp but the sound was great. Power chords, barre chords and palm mutes sounded great even without maxing the gain. It was also easy to play high-speed solos à la Metallica/Slayer, and the Floyd Rose tremolo seemed to be excellent (but I didn't abuse it because I tested the guitar in a shop). I think this guitar will clearly outdo LTD, Jackson, BC Rich and Ibanez guitars on the same price range with the pickups I plan to install on it.

Update from 01/18: I didn't upgrade the HZ pickups because I don't think it's necessary. They sound very good. I will test different active EMG pickups before upgrading this kit.

Update from 03/16/09: Finally, I think I will change the original pickups for DiMarzio X2N. The HZ kit sounds pretty good but I want more output power. I think the guitar is now available with active pickups and even though I'm not a fan of the 81, I think they have more power. I've noticed that the guitar generates hum (bad shielding) and it causes feedbacks ever since I dropped it...

So I decrease the mark to 8/10. The wood is still excellent.

OVERALL OPINION

I played it one hour at a shop and it was difficult to let go of it. The playing comfort is AMAZING. That's the word that best describes this guitar.

I like its look, playing comfort, perfect manufacturing, balance, weight... A great guitar!

I also tested an MH 400, which is its nearest competitor, but my verdict is unappealable. The MH has also some advantages (neck, active EMG pickups, high-quality finish) but I think this Lag is much better than the LTD except for the pickups (I prefer active pickups). For me, it's the best guitar in this price range.

Amazing value for money. The MH is a bit more expensive (because of its active EMG pickups) but the manufacturing and finish quality of the Lag are better... That's more important than the pickups. This guitar is a masterpiece!

Would I buy it again? Yes, ten times.

Update from 03/16/09: I confirm what I wrote: if I were to buy another guitar in this price range again it would be this one. I've never been disappointed in two years. Very good product!

UTILIZATION

The neck is awful, some frets stick out, the knobs fall off, the toggle switch fell out after just three days. The access to the upper frets is relatively comfortable and the guitar is well-balanced. The sound is average.

SOUNDS

I play mainly rock and metal with a Marshall HD100DFX and effect pedals (Metal Zone and Boss SD-1 among others).
The clean sound is good. It's the guitar's only strength! Distortion sounds are awful. The lows are too fat, the high frequencies are extremely harsh and I'm still looking for the mids.

OVERALL OPINION

I sold it a year ago and every time I think about it I get shivers. I've had an Ibanez Gio (when I first started out), a BC Rich Beast, a Dean Flying V Inferno. I'm currently the lucky owner of a Cort X Custom.

To make it short, buy this guitar only if you have money to throw away, otherwise get another one. Even low-budget guitars can have a better quality.
