This compressor is very "guts" is square and round at the end, quite hard to describe.

OVERALL OPINION

basically I have a lot of compressor side of all technologies (1176, Summit TLA100, Joemmek VC1Qcs, dbx 160X, ...).
I really am this compressor (even though I know I have not yet made the turn, far from it!).
No real negative point, perhaps the Vu meters deserve to be enlightened, and yet ...

Value for money not bad at all (bought used on this site), and yes I do it again this choice

Very simple for anyone who has already used a compressor. Good user's manual.

SOUND QUALITY

The best from the best! It doesn't matter if its a voice, a bass, a kick or a snare, everything sounds right with this compressor. You can push it as far as you like before it breaks. I don't like the limiter that much, it isn't effective enough. It can help you rescue a recording but it'll be too much if you want to add a little punch to the whole mix. Otherwise it's an outstanding piece of gear. Expensive but it's worth every penny. I own several high-end compressors and this Neve is on the same level as a Manley Vari-Mu but with a totally different character.

OVERALL OPINION

High-quality unit. Very good, very expensive. It makes sense. It's a real delight for vocals connected to a Tubetech preamp.
