Used these for half a year and thought these were absolutely fantastic until once tried the much cheaper Sennheiser HD 200 Pro. In contrast with the Sennheisers the sound of SRH940 is very unbalanced, with over-the-top highs and rather bleak lows. Such a distortion may be good for casual listening but not for mixing and mastering. To much of my surprise, with the Sennheisers I managed to hear much more subtle nuances in my mixes which I could not hear with SRH940. I don't say these headphones are bad, they are decent and much more comfortable to wear than the cheap plastic Sennheisers but their sound is certainly not great, at least it doesn't worth the price, although they come with a fine case and a pair of detachable cables (Sennheiser HD 200 Pro's cable is not detachable). I think Shure is an amazing brand when it comes to mics but it seems their headphones are nothing but okay.

I do not do this choice, too bad.
I will turn over to the in-ear if I had to choose a headphone that mark.

I use this headset for work mixing surround sound.
this headset is quite nice to wear, although the headband pads are not dense enough that can get after a certain period of use discomfort on the top of the skull.

This headphone, although professional remains an unfortunate weakness for this range and price. If Shure did not skimp on sound quality are using may not be possible due to certain breaks that can occur at the scale of the arch. I had several headphones before (AKG K271 / Sennheiser HD25 II / Sony MDR 7509 HD) for a monitoring function. The Shure is the one who gave me the most satisfaction at this price.

It is quite comfortable, little tiring to the ears, but it irritates a little skull after a certain period of use (such as AKG K271). This is not as uncomfortable headphones I've read in another opinion.

The value for money is excellent. This headphone is overall better than all headphones this price range, including the beyerdynamic DT PRO).

Given my musical practice (acousmatic music), I just opt ​​for Ultrasone PRO 900, much better, but obviously more expensive. In the range of 300 euros max headphones, however I would do this choice.

I use this headset for a good week now, I will not give my opinion in comparison to other headphones because I must admit that I did not try the other but in relation to my personal listening.

I use it for the home studio is especially for composing music for the image thus mainly orchestral instruments but I also touch a little electronic music.

The sound is very good, although it renders each instruments. The mids and highs are not shrill and bass precisely dosed.

Level comfort, the headset is quite nice but to quickly warm ears with velvet cushion. It is quite large but not too heavy. The insulation is not yet huge, when the music is quiet you can hear the noise outside, and vice versa can easily hear the sound from the outside of the headphone.

Aesthetically, it is good bah are small weak point it is still a bit plastic and manipulating it creaks a bit everywhere.
The packaging is really good, two supplied cable, a twisted right, spare bearings and a rigid box of transportation.

I bought it on sale for € 155 (about € 230 normally) so I'm very happy. It allows you to dial in optimizing the mix because of its neutrality copy, and is very interesting to listen to music diverse.

The Shure SRH940 have a clean design to them and they are very comfortable to use. An engineer once told me about these headphones and we had a headphone discussion. The sound of them is not bad, but I do have some issues with the mids and the lows. The highs are pretty clean without giving you a headache. But the mids sound kind of compressed and don’t fill out the total sound. It almost sounds like its just highs and lows and no mids. The lows on the SRH940 are not clean enough for me, there is no depth to the bass and it sounds very flat. These headphones would be great for a mixing engineer or studio production but I only got them to DJ with and it was not going to work. They also seem to be very fragile and are not made out of strong material like I like my headphones.
I have used the Shure SRH940 for 2 months at the most and only used them about 3 times in those months before I decided to finally sell them back to the store and get something else. The value for the sound was not a good deal for me, the price was not that low and the quality just didn’t cut it.
Knowing what I know now I would not have wasted the time or money getting these headphones. I have used multiple different headphones from Shure and most of them are all very good. I do not know why the sound quality of these where so weak and downgraded from the previous SRH Model.

The comfort part was fine to me though, it was a comfortable fit on my head with and without a hat, they can fit different size and shaped heads just fine. I am not sure how long this headphones could hold up though after being used a lot because as I stated the material they where built with was not very stable and I think that after using these for a year at the most they will break just from being packed in with other gear.

These headphones lack a little warmth if its level is very good, I rediscover albums. It insulates fairly well from the outside, means what is around as if we were in a box. on the other hand must not touch her thread, otherwise it's like scratching on the box.

Unfortunately, comfort is disappointing. The ear part is very comfortable, but the arch is poorly thought rigid bar with hard plastic just as "shock absorbers" in contact with the top of the skull (the part or most of the support is made) 4 leather chairs of a small thickness. It would have taken at least one band CONTINUOUS damping for greater burden-sharing and a little thicker. If you have the top of the skull not perfectly flat headphone you will create a localized support from the nasty poses.
Forced to knit a bit of stuff, not serious for the price.

If it all over again, so for listening, not for comfort, sony is better. I am very attached to comfortable for long, so I would have preferred perhaps a little less good in sound and more comfortable. Conclusion: Not for me, unless you know knitting: (

I am indulgent I put 6/10 for sound quality but for me comfort is really a no-go

Akg 99, AKG 271 but I read a lot of testing and hsit long before you buy.

What is the particular feature you like best and least? *

As: sound, trs clear, bright. You can feel the sound space, far more than on my akg99 which is semi-open yet. In fact the sounds are shure 940 trsdtaills, there are absolutely everything. A good mix / mastering will be apparent from office. I redcouvre my CD and MP3 Listen to flip the wrong compresssion .. (missing almost sounds
At the cost of a duo Tonny Bennett / Bill Evans on an amp luxman (correct without more) tonny before us a bill ct m and 2 / 3 m and I hear his feet on pedals ... the slap ...!!!

As a pianist I put the headphone for the cost of a CD of Bill Evans and I realize it's weird .. I tilt and I reverse the Earphone L / R. and suddenly I'm at the piano with the treble and bass my right left. Just the opposite of someone that costs facing the piano. Simple and bte but the subtleties of touch and the spatial rvle IMMEDIATE.

The least: a bit of a fan I would love a vintage headphone design a little more but the quality is frankly the appointment. there is a pro studio headphones and shows.
Otherwise some will say that the treble out much but in fact it's like in the Ralite if you want to prsence. but it is easy for gre COST hifi. and very practical for the composition.
