If you are in need of a solid sub that is affordable and will provide that clean low end frequencies no matter what type of music you make or listen to, the ADAM Sub 8 could be just what you are looking for. The response on this is very good, all of the low end sounds are very well balanced and don’t get muddy. As long as you have this place on good surface or floor you will have no problems getting good low end even if the room is large or if it is small. Make sure you have too other monitors that will complement this sub and you will have a complete sound that you can get some master like quality in.


SOUNDS

Sound is great, make sure you cut off some of the real real low frequencies as you should always do in your master mix because most systems cant even pick up that low end so why have sound going through it. Its almost like wasting energy by letting that low end run below 50 or so. (or whatever you like your master to cut off depending on what type of music you make also.)


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, I have not a single complaint with the Adam Sub 8 its priced accordingly and you get what you pay for anyways so its well worth the investment. I never really realized how much a difference a good quality sub would make untill I started using these. I use it almost every day now, and plan on looking at some bigger subs for my other studio that is at a friends house. You wont be disappointed with the ADAM Sub 8. It will give your music that clean low end you need and without give it that muddy bass that will wobble and give your music a nasty sound.

My aunt bought me a pair of Adam A7 few months ago, I added my Systm DCID a subwoofer to extend my reponse in the lows and above all gain precision (the A7 are blurry in this region of the spectrum).
Easy to install, I followed the advice of the manual, know how to install the box between the two satellites, well away from the wall (Avoid the angles especially!).
For connections (XLR and RCA possible), the signal is passed through the box, plugging the speakers above. Various options are chosen: phase reversal (sometimes necessary according to placement), 85Hz low-cut filter for the satellites, auto sleep mode (if no signal for 15 minutes), and especially the volume and the frequency break the box. Remote control to adjust the last 2 parameters at a distance, something very appreciated to properly configure the set. It happens quickly enough, we find the right settings. For my part, I strongly recommend activation of the 85Hz filter for the satellites.
Finally, I also recommend the use of a sweep to properly configure the frequency cutoff and volume. It is even necessary to avoid excessive swelling the overall imaging of your system that would result in loss of neutrality. The housing must remain in effect on a low volume.

SOUNDS

Difficult to give an opinion about neutrality for the moment (I will do it again one way). However, the dynamics and depth are an indisputable win. The bass is also more precise. It's simple, the first monitors where I could immediately find the subtleties of sound or music (exact location of certain frquences in the lower spectrum). It's like adding a new dimension to monitoring system: it really opens up a window to the world of low frequencies!
There is a necessary adaptation phase which will take several days. Indeed, it is something very unstable in the use of a 2.1 ... Probably the presence of very very low frequency (20-40 Hz). Not to mention the neighborhood, the use of a subwoofer seems very tiring in the long run... We will see!

OVERALL OPINION

Only yesterday I did a lot of tests on the monitors (metal, drum & bass, and electro music, jazz, classical music, movies, ...). What I like most, besides the quality of bass response is the dynamics and the power of it all: really enjoyable! ! Alot of punch gained.
I did not test other models, indeed I bought it with my eyes closed and I do not regret it. I do not really know if it's a good in terms of price/quality, but I think so!

I do not know if I would repeat this choice or not,I would opt for three voices of the speakers, more onreuses.

EDIT 26/02/2009: With practice and the experience, I found the box too strong, despite settings with the sweep. It tended to take precedence over the satellites, "distract" attention. Apart from that, I'm still pleased with this purchase.

Dynamic response and frequency very good.

Its sound is very well defined.

Lows are precise, do not drool.
The bass frequencies coming from the signal feel very good.  
No sensation of artificial boost

OVERALL OPINION

ADAM is a benchmark for those working primarily on acoustic projects and jazz.

I bought a kit from Adam A7 with Sub 8 to replace my old (and first) and Sub10 Kit Tapco S5 (used for 6 years).

I turned to Adam for the value for money and the reputation of their product.

SOUNDS

This sub is powerful enough, there is no need to put it hard to hear and feel the low frequencies.


OVERALL OPINION

It's been 3 months already that I have this sub, I use it in my home studio / apartment of 15m2.
I have less need to push the sound that my old sub, without being stronger, is more accurate.

The supplied remote control is very convenient because it allows adjustment without having my ear right next to the diaphram.

The size of the sub is more than enough for a small studio- at the beginning I was afraid to move from 10 to 8, but I have not lost the way, just a better quality (the size of the diaphram fits my little budget ...)

I chose this sub to complement my A7.
I wanted to control the bottom. That's done.

SOUNDS

The kick and bass are more easily controllable.
You must of course be careful how you set it (not too strong and choose the cutoff frequency remote-controllable) and that many controls are available.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for about a year already.
I have not tried other subs but it seemed more suited to my config.
 A bit expensive though.
 I wanted to enjoy the basic piano sounds with a more generous bottom end than the A7 (already really not so bad).
 I do not regret this purchase.

(I also use the system for home cinema / video games and it is excellent)
