Let’s start with Mac users who now have the ability to easily view which plug-ins need to be updated at a glance, thanks to Kazrog Plugin Update. The utility lists all the VST, AU, AAX and RTAS/TDM effects and instrument plug-ins installed on your Mac and displays the current version and the version you are using. A double-click on the plug-in name will take you to the editor’s website. Note that an option allows you to choose which directories to scan.
Plugin Update is available for download from pluginupdate.com. A Windows beta version is expected this summer.
Windows and Linux users can download mzuther TraKmeter, a VST plug-in designed to check track levels during mixing and/or mastering on up to 8 channels. Along with the Peak meter which is aligned at –9dB FS, and is usually present on most of the audio applications, TraKmeter also features an average meter centered around –20dB FS RMS. The plug-in is available under GNU license and can be downloaded from code.mzuther.de/trakmeter/.
Have a great weekend!
