Amp Maker WF-55

Ampmaker is Barry, an English enthusiast who offers guitar tube amp kits to assemble yourself.
The Wf-55 is a replica of the famous Fender tweed 5F1 field, with the difference that the straightening is not light but diode bridge.
All electronics including chassis is delivered. The box (head or combo), however, is to do it yourself.

UTILIZATION

You should know how to use a soldering iron and have already made some first effects pedals is preferable, but Barry's proposed tutorial is very clear (in the language of Shakespeare) and Barry is still available in case of concern.
The procedure for commissioning is well detailed, with verification of key tensions
This amp is easier to achieve in its range. Like its big brother, a single control for volume (on the site of a mod ampmaker is proposed to add a tone control and hit the switch to 5F2, personally I do not see the point so it sounds good like this)

SOUNDS

5w single ended in the 6V6, not enough to play against an acoustic drum, but perfect for the power play at home.
The clean sound that comes out this amp is absolutely beautiful, and slamming crystalline without being garish, low also very present without choking sound.
This is an amp with old, no big saturation here
With a strat it's pure happiness, the amp starts to slowly saturate to 5-6 the next volume attack.
Note also that food pedals like a voracious, both dirt that modulations. Happiness!

OVERALL OPINION

I rode him in May 2013, and since that tjs is the only amp that I play at home, I'm tired!
And yet I have had a lot before, all sold
The value for money is excellent for 150 € was something to mount a full frame on ptp turretboard with good components (transformers Danburry)
Note that I set mine in 6L6 for a little more headroom (2 mods to do about the 6V6 circuit)
I remake that choice of course, I'm actually just finishing the new P1800 brand
