great tone and reverb
Published on 11/01/22 at 08:45I used to play funk and blues.
Moving towards more jazzy and songwriting.
It's a great amp for live even if it s a bit loud for small venues.
It s a 4x10 so it takes space but it s not too heavy so you can carry it prety easily.
Not the most convenient for small easy to pack gigs.
Clean sounds are incredible, the reverb and the presence are insane. Crunch is really nice but loud.
If used with an atenuator you can reach perfect overdriven tones.
Always huge headroom.
Pros : tone, reverb, headroom.
Cons : loud, big00 - 4schePublished on 06/12/12 at 02:04 (This content has been automatically translated from French)- Lamp

The 4 HP provides a great dynamic to the sound, I tried the Blues Deluxe (version 2 HP) and the difference is really obvious.
on the other hand at saturation is very limited, for my part I add a fuzz when I go on the rock or pieces more muscular.
OVERALL OPINION
I bought it used last year, this is the first reissue of Blues Deville manufactured in the U.S.. I really struggled to find an amp with the sound I wanted (bold, vintage) and when I tried it I knew I finally had the good!
I love the warmth and grain of this amp.
The less it is really heavy, I do my gym every week to bring it in again ..
I paid € 600 hand, I tested a lot of amp (even much more) before making my purchase. The price / quality ratio is exceptional but the amp is hard to find used.
I will ever buy this without hesitation.See less70 - MellllPublished on 03/29/07 at 01:28 (This content has been automatically translated from French)- What kind of amplification (lamp, transistor ,...)?

Sweet tone!

The tone you get get with this amp is remarkable! It is jangly and dirty but will never play something out side of your guitar's natural tone. It compliment the tone of your guitar and doesn't take on a new character. The ultimate tone for this amp is a Fender Stratocaster and maybe a Ibanez TS9 or some other tubescreamer. This will get you a solid driving tone that just slams the front end of the band mix. Plus with with the extra dirty channel you can get even dirtier than that. Although I must say that the crunch channel of this amp is fair weak and sterile sounding. So my recommendation is to use a overdrive pedal slamming the front of the amp.
OVERALL OPINION
If you are into the blues style tone and voicing and want a solid durable gigging amp then this is about the best you can get aside form some boutique builder. The tone is warm and full of driving blues tones that will get you excited to come home from work just to play the thing.
At new these amps come in at around $1000 which isn't a bad price. I am not sure if these units are made in Mexican or America. They used me American but at some point I know the Hot Rods switched toe Mexico.See less30 - VishNuRoXoUt

UTILIZATION
It's very easy to dial in a good sound from this amp. It's got loads of clean headroom and a very nice gain channel for blues. It doesn't have a whole lot of gain, so you would need to boost the front of this amp to get heavier types of gain. But with a few pedals this amp is a beast. Everything is simple, no explanation needed.
SOUNDS
I've used a few guitars through mine. Strat, tele, humbucker tele, Les Paul type guitars. All work well and respond as they should. The reverb isn't the greatest but it's certainly better than the built in reverb on many amps. I prefer pedal reverb though. I really like setting the EQ flat and using lots of pedals with this amplifier. It's fantastic for pedals and has loads of headroom so it's the perfect canvas for creating your tone through pedals.
OVERALL OPINION
I really like the headroom, look and pure loudness of this amp. There is nothing really bad I can say about it other than the drive channel. I am not a fan. I prefer just the clean side. Not to completely rule out the drive though, it has it's uses. It's loud, has great cleans, and it's Fender. It does everything it was made to well. I played a few different models of the Hot Rod Series before picking this one up. It was by far my favourite of the series. I would get another one later on in life if I decide to move this one.See less20
