«  Nice amp, good sound »

Model: FSR Blues Junior blue tone

Fender limited series equipped with a speaker Emminence Patriot 12 "

Coat color in two shades of blue

Tube amp: 3 x 12AX7 pre-amp and 2 x EL 84 power amp. Reverb circuit with a PDO. 15 Watts of power.

Settings: tone three buttons (high, mid, low), input gain (volume) for the master output and reverb. FAT push for an addition of decibel (triggered by the foot).

Serious wiring circuit board, two fuses. Accessible by removing the rear panel. The transformer is not shielded.

Reduced to a connector jack HP that is disconnected from the HP and a jack integrated to a pedal FAT.

14 pounds, easy to carry.

Warning: this is not an amp to 2000 euros wired by hand. So we must be honest about what consumer product.

UTILIZATION

Beautiful setting in an amp midrange area. A power reserve that is never used in an apartment but who gives a feeling of resources. The spring reverb is very good, you can feel in a cathedral or a small room. From 2 or 3, it gives more presence to the sound.

The tone controls are not there for nothing because changing guitar must redo the settings.

I try three models, including the model number for me to realize that the speaker gives much changed. Fender uses this trick to propose different amps based on the same amplifier but with another speaker. Result, all amps are different.

On this model the saturation is low, but Fender uses advised to have a box effect. Its clear this is wonderful and the HP 12 "gives her a lot of momentum.

Be careful to tighten the screws because the amp is mounted in tears. Even lamps have not been fully pressed. Lamps Made in Russia.

SOUNDS

Blues means a warm, par excellence, so do not expect it sound strident. The interplay between the gain and master allows subtleties. And tone controls provide the ability to find the sound you seek. But sometimes you look between two guitars. For Stratocaster is great, but with my Gibson ES 135 is harder to solve, there are many mediums with the same setting.

It is a good amp based on 12AX7 and EL84, the same as Vox example. The preamp is very clear and precise. Its rather a lens. Bases are at the top, rich, accurate thanks to Patriot Emminence. I tried a Celestion 30 but it is more punchy. And Original HP is duller. The sound is much better quality with HP.

In use with American Special Stratocaster and a Gibson ES-135 I realize the importance of setting the tone for guitar. We must play subtly.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a great amp that I recommend for home, studio and even the club. A good reserve of power in a small group, a clear and quiet. The limited edition offers additional personality.

I love his personality, limited edition side, FSR (Fender Special Run), HP (I was gone for a Celestion Greenback, but I'm not disappointed with the Patriot Emminence).

He snores a little, high volume is bad. But I think that by changing the lamps we must reduce this problem. I had the opportunity to buy a used model series but the difference is in the HP. I could also buy the model used 400 euros and change the HP, it is probably a good compromise.

The other flaw is its presentation "pro", a beautiful product, which should not be confused with a high-end amp. So, some advice (on the Blues Junior II Standard) it provided a less welcome because its use is pushed to the maximum.
