All user reviews for the Fender Deluxe Reverb "Silverface" [1968-1982]

Amp all 1970 lamp with "deluxe reverb amp" logo which becomes "deluxe reverb" (no sticks around the grill cloth panel as was the case in the first all Silverface 67 to 69). this amp is a marvel, the original hp is long dead, it is now equipped with an eminence from a blues deluxe. apparently weber factory hp good for this type of amps. The power tubes are JJ preamp and those are Mazda and Rca ... the footswitch from a deluxe reissue. no printed circuit wiring point by point to the old. careful anyway, even if they are strong, these old amps do not like humidity.

USE

So the trick is that you have many warm it. over the amp is hot and the sound is present. it really cash effects and complies with the sound of each guitar: a solid body or half body will not sound at all like it. the reverb is huge when pushed and tremolo is subtle. the amp sounds simple enough to solve: no gain, just one per channel volume, treble, bass, reverb, tremolo speed and intensity, there are few pots but they are quite effective and can spend a lot of time to seek the sound to the guitar used. The choice of lamps also plays heavily on the dynamics and the accuracies: we really rediscovered the amp, guitar and effects.

SOUNDS

This is simply the best amp for my use. as it is only 22 watts, you can push it without tearing their eardrums. careful anyway, from 5 it starts to get really hard, but there was this grain and this dynamic ... you can really make the sound with a pick and if necessary thicken with good pedals. it is a good compromise to the extent that we can play with a problem without a drummer or on stage without being resumed, and also get a nice clear sound at lower volume, for example, for a record. I use this amp with two fender mustang 1978 and vintage pedals: mxr distortion + germanium / OD850 overdrive Ibanez / Maxon PT999 Phase Tone.

NOTICE GLOBAL

Before this amp, I played for 10 years on a HIWATT combo 1976 (February 12 custom built ', 100 watts with reverb and vibrato ever backcrossing this model ...) I had beautiful couple the two channels, not do saturate and I never overshot at 0.3 under penalty master to cover everyone. I bought the HIWATT misery. I sold it to move to the deluxe reverb who returned me 500 euros. it is three times lighter and three times more usable in most situations. I think I always keep.

One of the most uncompromising amplifiers to ever grace this earth...The Fender Deluxe Reverb. This amp is an absolute tone monster and a classic rock amplifier. These amps have been played by just about everyone in the business. There really is no competition when it comes to the clean tone of these amps. Fender struck gold with these amps decades ago and are still getting paid dividends on the reissues.

SOUNDS

When You think of Fender amps you think or a 65 reverb deluxe...why because it is a masterpiece amp. The tone and clarity from this amp can not be matched by any other. Sure other builders have recreated it to the best of their knowledge and many boutique amps do sound phenomenal. Nothing has the name as the Fender Deluxe Reverb.

This amp sound great just as simple as the design. Use a good Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster and a good overdrive pedal like an Ibanez tubescreamer pr a Fulltone OCD and your have tones for any type of gig you can image. You will feel the chimy and response that makes this amps a legend. Give is a little volume and hear the sweet mild overdrive of a clean Fender classic amp.

OVERALL OPINION

At only 22 watts you can crank this amp up and get a nice sweet overdrive for country pop, or rock music. At new these amps come in at around $1199. Not a bad price for a tone tube masterpiece. I would recommend this amp to any person who need a great sounding low watt amplifier. These amps have stood the test of time and will continue to please guitarist around the globe.

All Tube Amp, 22 watts RMS . Two channels, one with just volume bass and treble, one with reverb and vibrato on top. No master. At the rear, outputs for ext speaker,  pedals on / off  reverb and tremolo. The spring reverb is fixed to the bottom of the amp.  Oxford speaker. Mine is a '72..

UTILIZATION

Yes, the setup is simple, even simplistic but it is the sound wanted by generations of guitar players of any musical style. This gives a sound a little less round than a Vox AC30, the tremolo gives a vintage sound (Doors, Shadows ...) and the spring reverb gives it a unique grain that digital reverbs can not give. I have the original manual that says less than these lines. I also have the Electronic Schematic.

SOUNDS

You can do everything. I have a Marshall distortion pedal. But the main purpose is to have a clear sound, ideal for country and western, rockabilly, jazz, surf, rock the Arctic Monkeys etc. ..... A precision tool and a sound we rarely hear on recent amps. Sure for  heavy metal, you need a good distortion and Marshall does it better. Distorsion comes naturally  by turning the volume beyond 7 ). If you are in a rock band,  volume  4 is sufficient to cover a battery. I  sold the Princeton, which sounded more "tinny"  10 inch speaker instead of 12), and it was not sufficient to cover the drums. I busted the speaker.
The Oxford (blue sticker ) is excellent.

OVERALL OPINION

I have the amp since 1985, bought used in London. What I like most is the sound. I did not see a default. Before that I had a Yamaha B212 100 watt silent but much too heavy (like a solid state Twin Reverb ). It is the ideal compromise, you can carry it - not too long- without breaking your back, because it has the sound of great guitarists and of legends, sufficient power and the  irreplaceable Fender reverb and vibrato. This is not a Blackface, more expensive, but this is a great tool.
