For the character, see other reviews.
In my opinion there is everything you need and nothing more.
A little vibrato or tremolo would have been the icing on the cake!
The bright switch on clean channel is pretty useless cons.
Some find it too noisy ... Okay I use it in a house with the volume to 3.5 to 2 and the master. With these settings we have a good sound and volume is acceptable if you are not apart. If you want to play again or in concert, the volume is sufficient, but you will not have much room, you turn to the pe 212 or 410.
UTILIZATION
The config is very simple, the EQ is not very effective but since the original sound is good, needless to disfigure with EQ settings too extreme. There is only one EQ for all channels, but again, it works fine without.
The reverb is sensitive, I leave at 2 in general. At 5 it is the land of surfers, beyond only the fans will love the Cramps.
The rest is plug and play, no headaches. I appreciate that aspect but if you like fiddling with buttons go your way.
SOUNDS
Its super-light. With the volume to 3.5 were crystal clear sound, very hifi (I have a Mustang, very low output level). Pushing a little more, it starts to make noise and arrive quickly at a crunchy sound. Besides, you'll have trouble getting a clear lens and make your voice heard as a group.
-Crunch sound very nice, warm and dense, the one I use most. Perfect for lovers of garage rock or even stoner.
The disto-channel ... great debate. He has a particular sound, with a grain density that is missing, it accentuated the midrange-treble. Very typical 70s hard rock (Hendrix, Iron Butterfly, Leaf Hound). I'm glad to have on hand but I do not use it often either. In my opinion it can be nice with humbuckers, which complements the disto ... Still have to try though!
-Overall, it delivers much lower, except on the disto. Perfect with simple microphones and in particular with my Mustang has a sound enough medium. However I do not know what it would with humbuckers.
-In all cases, we reach a wide variety of sounds by playing with volumes (including the guitar). With distortion pedal, you get to have all the sounds you want (I use a Proco Rat, which is absolutely brilliant, I might even have to have a sound if the urge metalheads took me).
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for 6 months. I love the look, sound. However I want a bit more power, or at least flexibility with volume.
I confess I have not tried other models of the masses. I fell in love with this amp a few years ago. Finally I still had the opportunity to plug into an Orange worth much more. Volume was more flexible but I was not fooled by the sound.
Issue price, I bought it secondhand, like new for $ 400! Unbeatable! But the French price, obviously it is better to think twice.
