OVERALL OPINION

Very very good. To compete you must bring an excellent electrostatic U87, for example, necessarily associated with a good tube preamp (at least one SPL). No prémp, the TB-100 already gives excellent results because it is a microphone that has a very good output level and excellent transient response. Associated with a transistor preamp sound sits in the high end. A light color, presence, a little air, it looks like the U87 (old) of a tube preamp, with more and more serious level. He, like him, a slight increase of Sibilla. It has no low-cut, and it lacks a little close in heart. It is not really why I believe it. Or should equalize in the decision lightly. The directional characteristics are very wide musical and reduce much closer proximity effect. The voice is at least as beautiful as the U87 + lamps, hard to choose. It makes the sound by playing on the distance and directional mic / source. It's a bit more complicated with the filters but it is much more musical. Voice: Cardio = U87 + lamp + low cut, but Cardio-large = TB100, it breathes better. Acoustic guitar: worse than the KM84, U89, C414. But provided you use these microphones with a good tube preamp. Otherwise, the TB100 wonders.
I put it in competition with an SPL U89 + preamp tube. It took me many tries to get out. The tube preamp is a preamp necessary U89 transistor in TB100. U89 A + preamp tube is more than € 3000! Without preamp tube I choose without hesitation the TB100. Otherwise, it depends. For example: close-miking voices, plucked and bowed U89 + = good lamps, and piano, lyrical voice, chorus = TB100. Price, € 1200 from the manufacturer, is very attractive for home-studio owners demanding. This is three times cheaper than a U87 or U89 associated with a good tube preamp and it's not three times less exploitable, far from it.
