UTILIZATION
Pretty Simple control pane, with 2 channels both a full Treble Middle Bass set up, with switchable resonance and presence controls, it also has switchable reverb, switchable between 18 and 65w for both channels, which is cool and I will go more in depth in the next category. The manual is pretty simple and explains what it needs to. it looks great with a wheat and black grille in a tan color. really pretty hot looking Its does getting kind of complicated with all the buttons knobs and switches but for the most part its pretty simple
SOUNDS
Played this with a PRS Single Cut 22 and my Les Paul with Seymour Duncans through the Egnater cab.
Cleans/Low Gain: I was very impressed with the cleans on this amp. Set to the 6L6 side with the with bright switch on and a little bit of reverb you can coax some really pristine sparkling cleans out of this amp, think twin reverb. if you in switch it over to the EL34 side you get a more rounded marshally type sound which I personally don't love, but it does it if you want it. in the middle its kind of boring in my opinion. As you inch the gain up on the EL34 side it does dirty JTM45 type sounds really really really well, I loved it for that, very very bluesy, especially with a little bit of verb. this channel stops at about AC/DC type gain. I found it a little too darkly voiced to do AC/DC, but its there if you want it.
Medium/High Gain: This is where I loved this amp, it is SO versatile. this channel picks up where the Clean left off. with the gain set at around 11 o'clock on the EL34 side you get instant 80s sounds ala Ratt, Journey and Guns'n'Roses. As you inch the gain up at about 1 o'clock you can get some passable American high gain sounds on the 6L6 side. Don't expect a Recto, but it'll do a voicing somewhat similar, although I'd say its more like a Mark IV lead channel than a recto, either way great lead sounds are to be had here. Past about 1 o'clock on either side you have either great hot rod marshall sounds or on the 6L6 side more modern hard rock and metal high gain tones.
My only real complaint is that it does get a little muddy when you get the gain above a certain point and that it gets a little mushy without a boost.
OVERALL OPINION
overall this thing is great, it sounds amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed pretty much every tone I got out of it. if you want versatility this is definitely something I'd look into, especially at the price range its at.
