Paul Reed Smith guitars are really known for their exotic and beautiful instruments. They make some of the most recognizable and gorgeous guitars in the world. They have been featured on pretty much any stage in all arenas around the world. You seen the likes of country players all the way up to drop tuning metal players use these instruments. What Paul Reed Smith is not quite as known for his amplifiers. Many of their amplifiers will give you a beautiful surprise. They're usually not an in-your-face modern high gain tone. However this one is just that.

SOUNDS

This is basically Paul Reed Smith's modern take on the new types of high gain distortion amplifiers. This is a two channel 6L6 power to based amplifier. It also features nice sounding boutique put in power transformers. One cool feature on this amplifier where you would see in many and pretty much all Mesa boogie amplifiers is that it has a fixed bias. What this means is a you can swap in and out 6L6 power tubes and never have to take it to an amp technician to get it serviced. You can try out different manufacturers tubes to your liking and figure out which one suits your playing needs the best. This is a cool little amplifier but if someone's into the high gain sound you're probably not going to look towards Paul Reed Smith. This is a fun amplifier but I would suggest going elsewhere to get your high gain needs.

OVERALL OPINION

I knew you can find these amplifiers for right around $1500 that is not that bad of a price for a good two channel modern 50 W tube amplifier. I think the asking price for this Paul Reed Smith amplifier is great because it is a competitive priced amplifier compared to Marshall or orange amplifiers and give you some boutique and proper modern features.
