«  Very good choice of a good preamp for clear sound! »

Published on 02/26/12 at 12:29
A version of SS-11

Choice 12AH7 default, or 12AX7.
To do this, unscrew the protective grille lamps and move jumpers. The manual explains the operation.

It is therefore a dual lamp preamp we have.

Used as a connection of amplifier:
Guitar> IN (SS11)> SEND (SS11)> Effects of modulations> RETURN (SS11)> OUT> (SS11)> Return of combo / head / Power Amp

It consumes 600mA, important to know if one seeks a single feed for all Pedalboard

(See previous review for settings)

UTILIZATION

Simple!

There is very quickly clear sound we like.
It is possible to have a clear sound without the typed Jazz Bright switch, if not to have his typed a Fender with a beautiful highlighted with the same switch.

There are three false channels:
- Clear Channel
- Channel Crunch
- Crunch Channel boosted
Clear Channel has its own EQ, for cons for 2 Crunches, it's the same EQ. We must therefore make a compromise if you want equalizer switch between these two last channels.

SOUNDS

I have a Stratocaster with a Dimarzio Chopper bridge and a single typical Telecaster neck. The amp is a Blackstar HT5.

With this configuration I was looking for a nice clean sound for the neck position and split off phase. Well I have used, the clean sound is beautiful, great set, really pleasant.
Any setting changes in some important sound. The adjustment range is very wide.

With the crunch channel, one can have his dirty Bluesy lead to the correct type of Marshall. We can play good riffs Big Rock. on the other hand, for Metal, I have not found anything worthwhile. I have another pedal for that of the coup.

I love the sound of this pedal. Now to frustration because you can not equalize the two independent channels Crunch ...

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a little over a month.
This is a very good pedal sound in terms ... on the other hand ... build quality is very weak. I bought it used, and the sound comes out already Emulated Output Output.
I agree with a previous opinions discussing the quality of manufacture.

I tried other preamp, including TubemanII that I liked and which proposed remember more possibilities with Equalization separate channels for each entry. I recently tried a Sansamp California that I was quite disappointed. Its pretty clear, but sounds disgusting crunch, this may be the goal.

Ultimately this is a very good preamp when it works. The quality / price is not terrible, but it does its job very well, namely a good clear sound base, and other interesting channels crunch.
