«  Very precise ... Too? »

Published on 02/15/11 at 14:39
Everything has been said.
It is a very simple preamp: one channel, 3 12AX7, etc. no effect.
It's plug and play, that's why I put a very high note. Not because I'm a fan of the concept but because I'm assuming that no one buys a Gp-1000 for special effects or EQ to top ....

Perfection does not exist, I put 9.

UTILIZATION

Very simple setup!
I do not understand the previous review saying that it is difficult to configure it to have a good sound since turning knobs is accessible to any kid.
Moreover, Gp-1000 does not offer 10,000 sonic possibilities are extremely limited but I can only remain puzzled by the previous opinion which seems to imply that he is versatile ....
It was nice to turn the knobs, the difference is not mind-blowing for most of them.
The manual available online is useless so it's childish. It can however allow a better grip of the apparatus with the description of the effect of the various knobs on the sound.

So a good note on this point, it is really easy to use even though the manual is not really complete.

SOUNDS

Is the hardest part for me to deal and score.
It is imperative that you read it because it is most important in my opinion (one that can motivate or disgusted with the purchase of the beast). I have your attention?

Ok good, I bought it having been very influenced by Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom. I was looking for the same sound as in her first album.
If this is the reason you want to buy then go your way. You'll only bring you a vintage sound very good and very nice but never, EVER, you will have the same sound (and yes, I used it with a J-50BC-1000 and I installed everything in the an ESP SV / Jackson RR).

Now that this issue is addressed we can move on its sound, without influences.
It is obviously impossible to make out a clear, as stated in the previous opinion and I agree on this point, it's a preamp that is done for the surly.
But beware, this is not the preamp that will deliver a modern sound, fat, heavy, etc..
Its sound is clear, dry and sharp. It is anything but flexible.

I love me, that's what I was looking for but keep in mind that this is what I was looking for!
If you want vintage, but at the same time clear sound even a little modern disto go to the ADA MP-1 is a safe bet.

NOTE: I emphasize again, I put a note in the sound because it excels issued but be aware that this is knowing that he excels.
Let me explain: it is good if you know what to expect!
I think I might die laughing (literally) if I read a comment about the Gp-1000 a user would be said "disappointed" by its sound while searching for vintage sound that In Flames ...

OVERALL OPINION

I used it for 1 year with the SP-1000 is its complement in Poweramp.
I loved its sound, but I sold because of its lack of versatility.
I thought it would not bother me so well in the end.
I blame him accordingly this lack of versatility. It's amazing to see how it delivers a sound type. I promise that I would not hear the difference between the min and max some knobs!

I reiterate, it is a very good Poweramp that does its job and that can not be disappointed when we know what to expect.

I will not make this choice with the experience because:
1 - I switched to something else, other sounds
2 - a cruel lack of versatility is still unpleasant to force
