Rocktron Piranha

Rocktron has put out some very affordable and unique music equipment. This is one of their preamps that they decided to make that on the outside looks very cool and on the inside had some great tones as well. This is basically a three channel preamp consisting of a clean, to mild overdrive, any new modern high gain channel. You also get a consistent EQ parameters consisting of bass, maids, treble, and then of course your gain and level. You also have a couple knobs for the output level input level which is consistent with other preamp designs.

UTILIZATION


This is a pretty easy preamp to dial-in a decent tone with. It's pretty self explanatory and the options and features that has are pretty basic it's overall construction. You also have some outputs for going to a power amp as well as inputs. Also a PA system or board bypassing any other power amps or speaker cabs. This is a fun little preamp and he get some great tones if you have enough time to really digging in tailor the EQ to your liking.

SOUNDS


The tone of this is very high again in modern sounding compared to a lot of other preamps. I would say that this is a better sounding preamp then add some Marshall preamps . This is about half the price of some other preamps as well. So this is a good buy for someone looking to get a three channel preamp with a great deal of versatility and it's small sleek one space rack unit.

OVERALL OPINION


I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good rock tone and doesn't want shell out a lot of money for Marshall or some other preamp that cost a lot more than this one. Get a good enough sound if you couple it with a good solid power amp and your to get the tones and power that you really need for gigging or recording with if you get it mic-ed up to a speaker cabinet.

Preamp tubes (x2), a rack unit ... The connection is not too bad, effects loop, XLR Direct Output, input front and behind the rack ...... midi in and out .. ..not bad ... except they have forgotten the phantom power from Rocktron !!!! ... there has MIDI 'in' 7-pin but not phantom power supply !!! .. ..Ca fears !!! ... Even the progap owns the V2 !!!!
Otherwise 3 voicing, bright, vintage and modern .... qualisation serious, medium and semi-parametric acute ... Single Super ...! I put only 6 because no phantom power for my pedalboard Midimate ... ...:-(dropoff window

USE

Very simple, easy regl very sensitive and qua ... the clearest sound at the saturated .... no manual because bought Cygnus .... may be a lack of rglage presence in qualisation especially for clean sounds ...

SONORITS

Well, I read that this preamp is made for those who write mtalleux ..... cel must be blind or deaf COULD BE ... (no hard feelings eh ?? !!) Let distortion, it there is a vintage fashion ideal for blues or rock !! .. Sounds fat and round, not too aggresif adapted .... all styles but not Mtal ... !!! For solis well saturs and metal riff, there is the distortion fashion Modern ... the ok..a can do it ... but beware, for dchirent pm which is not great either !!! ... Much less effective than a Chameleon (which I own) or a Progap (idem) .... For heavier things very well, is the fact ..... Otherwise, Pramp of this !!! ... The grain, a is the sudden !!! .... Hotter than the Vodoo exemple..surtout by high volume or voodoo is perfectible .... Otherwise, clear, contrairemnt what I've read can be totally clear !! ... On with a SH8 duncan, no obvious !!! But with doubles in intermediate positions, even with no worries the input 3/4 as I used! .. Its very clear round, warm ....

I use it for a month, good machine, differente other Rocktron products, homogeneous product, silencieux..je have bought secondhand 400th, I am satisfied ... I eventually will change for Prophecy ... !!dropoff window

Preamp "made in USA" lamps (2 12AX7, one per channel). It provides three types of sound ... a clean, a saturation and distortion if you can say (we will come back later!)
It is programmable (99 presets), controllable via MIDI.
The 4-band EQ, gain and level are adjustable via dials endless with great precision.
I states that "input" is also back and avoid being forced to "plugger" in front ... this is a detail that may be important!

UTILIZATION

Everything was very well explained in previous reviews ... I will summarize my way!
If the use is relatively simple when al "used to this kind of gear fiddling, the configuration is quite complicated by the possibility of adjustments to the millimeter! 2 knobs for mediums, including one parametric ... this limit is too!
You just take time to find what we seek.

SOUNDS

On three types of sounds, there is a clean, distortion and 2 sharing the same button. The biggest distortion is flashing at the loupiote button! This is to make the settings manually, of course ... then when everything is set and store MIDI control everything!

I used it in several ways:
Return-in amplifier (HT5, Ultra + V3M), and it was not terrible on the HT5 and the other good way ... as a lack of body, what power!
In a 120-velocity and rockit, it was already better, more accurate, in that previously returned!
-But then, in ENGL E840/50 a potato hell, even the metal most straight forward, the palm mute bad ... really big sound!
Like what, the notice said that the Piranha should be used on a Power lamp is perfectly justified!

I said that these were examples of using saturation and distortion ...
I am not an expert in clean to make palaver. Certainly, it is not crystalline but good Fender, then to say it is not good, no ... it gets the job done much ...

OVERALL OPINION

I tried JMP1 the Rockmaster, and the E530 it.
The Piranha is the one that convinced me the most (and yet I have more!) Thanks to its multitude of programmable presets, and distos very powerful.
Advantages: can be several different channels for each scraper that I have, all of which have different configs micro, wood key (or body), etc ...
Least for me, are the loop and sounds for solos difficult to find (when we find one, we "store"!)

I think that one day I would resume if the price is low ... just to the side of "nostalgia"!
