The Stanton STR8-80 is a direct drive turntable (Meaning the platter is turned directly by a motor instead of by a belt). The STR8-80 Stanton's highest torque direct drive motor to date. 3 speeds - 33, 45, 78 RPM, Selectable pitch adjustment (± 8%, 12%), Blue 33 and 45 RPM Pitch LEDs, Remote Start S/PDIF digital output, which you can plug straight into Mac/PC or CD-R. It comes witha Stanton 520 SK DJ Cartridge pre-mounted on a silver headshell. The mixer's straight tonearm is great for scratching and mixing, and the platter is very responsive and has good resistance. The needle never skips and is not too hard on your records, though it could be better with some kind of suspension system. I use a pair of these as backup decks on gigs, and sometimes use them for practice and scratching on recordings. They are very full featured, and sound good. These turntables have straight tone arms. The S-shaped gives superior sound quality, however the straight arms are better for DJing and scratching. The only gripe I have with the STR8-80 is that the body is made of plastic. If you want your turntables to last a very long time, plastic is unacceptable. Another feature that this turntable doesn't have that the two aforementioned do is the ability to change the height of the tone arm for stability. Overall however, these are good tables that have lasted me a good amount of time, and were well worth what I paid. I really like these decks and they get a pretty good amount of use on at least a weekly basis. I would recommend these as a good and cheap pair of backup or travel decks, maybe a good present for your kid if they want to get into DJing since they are so cheap. These are really good tables for beginners.

Conclusion: Cest really a super platinum and more for a budjet reduit.Je really do not understand why this brand because it snubs are the stuff of quality at reasonable price.

I used these plates for 1 year and I must say that if I had to start over and go back I will take exactly the same plates to start.

In simple and concise:

Assets:

- Pitch + / -16
- Function 78 rpm (ca sisi is useful when I used to listen to old 78's!)
- Nice color blue LEDs (in teuf is simpa)
- A good quality / price ratio! Compared to the turntables Gemini, Numark ... etc
- The VAS Stanton is one of the best (although I've never had to call them! Is a dealer who told me)

Cons:

- Fixed Function Key (function that serves not to change the tone of voice when using the pitch), which gives a metallic voice.
- The couple who gets a little "just" when you become a confirmed scratcher (I have still seven months to get tired ...)
- The sound abruptly cuts off when turning on / off button (this is due to the electronically controlled machine)

Across a range of platinum using a quality / price appointment.
Yet do not neglect the table! It will make you much progressed!

Do not rely on advice from other dj oldtimer as they say, because for bcp if you do not have the MK2 you is not hip hop. it will remain the reference is undeniable, as it does the one for a while.

To conclude, the STR is a MK2 8-80 the same touch ultra precise pitch and above the same torque, along with the reloop scratch.2 is really a very good table, you set the aurra qu'l you need to get started without breaking the bank buying a MK2 with the technics or vestax mixer, and started with the rest breakbeat you buy because it has all the essential hip hop dj.

- What is so special that you like most and least?
I like the LINE, very convenient! Master Tempo is not a great thing (ca microdécalage creates a very annoying to 0)
on the other hand I do not like the fact that when the engine is turned off, the sound cuts (but there's a Motor Off feature, so eventually there is nothing lost)
